Happy Ramadan!

Kamangir | October 18, 2004 | Category Islam

The holy month of Ramadan has just begun in the Islamic world. Mulsims fast in Ramadan days. They neither eat nor drink from about 5AM to 5PM. At the mornings the family gathers for the “Sahari”, the food eaten at the early morning and then they keep being hungry for the rest of the day. At the sunset they have a chew again. This food is called the “Eftari”.This month is characterized for me with the low performance of everybody. I have ever got surprised to see muslims forcing themselves to be so tired and drowzy for a full month. Maybe this is not so astonishing when you remember that they are not generaly hardworkers for the rest of the year. I have seen this frequently that even students sleep at the Ramadan days because they can do nothing and then they keep awake at the nights when they can eat and drink freely. I have also seen people that do not do the prayings but perform the fast. Maybe it is easier.

Anyway, Happy Ramadan to all believers.

hi, i’m from malaysia, which is also an Islamic country… the Muslims here are always lethargic during Ramadan. They eat in the morning, then for the rest of the day, they just sit, tired, drained of all energy, just waiting to break fast in the evening. In my opinion, this sort of fasting is meaningless. Actual fasting would mean following your daily routine, wouldn’t it ?
