Bad Majesty
Kamangir | November 30, 2005 | Category Iran
First, it was claimed that a dog has gone to Imam Reza’s shrine. Then, a not-so-famous newspaper in Tehran announced that it was all a trick (see). Who did it? Entekhab states that the same newspaper wrote “one mean guy and two majestic servant’s of Imam Reza” (باندي مركب از يك شياد ودوتن از خادمان بزرگوار Øريم رضوي ). Hence, there was two bad majestic ugly servants of the holy Imam engaged in this story! See here for a glorious text containing many high-profile Persian words and phrases, finishing with a poem, including respectful reasons that dogs are not dirty, or “Najes” as they say. It makes me off.

That’s great! We are going to have “Air Force Number One” (see). Though, I think they would rather call it “Safir-e Noor”, something translated to “the light’s courier”. We, Iranians, tend to affiliate important things with light, maybe because light is the fastest thing in the world. Or just because you can’t grab it, like our corrupt politicians.
I was more interested in this part:
بنا به گزارشها، ايران از طريق ÙŠÚ© شرکت وابسته به وزارت دÙاع برای خريد اين هواپيمای Û±Û²Û° ميليون دلاری اقدام کرده ولی Û´Û° ميليون دلاری Ú©Ù‡ به ÙŠÚ© واسطه پرداخت شده بود، ناپديد شده است
Briefly, it says 40,000,000$ paied for a similar airplane is just missing. What?
Nasty Creatures
Kamangir | November 28, 2005 | Category Iran
Bad Dog! All of it was a trick. I know that dog has nothing to do with god. It is like saying a bat pressed the tab key. It was all clear from the beginning. By the way, they say the dog entering Imam Reza shrine was just a trick and dogs have nothing to do with the god and his affiliates (see). I am wondering when we will think about the relationship between other nasty creatures and the God, species like “Akhond” and “Rozzeh Khoon”. I beg your pardon that I use these Persian words here, I know no translation for them in English, not after the medieval.
p.s. Entekhab, the enthusiastic follower of the dog’s news, is now talking about silly journals who spread the news!

Support for Ganji’s Lawyer
Kamangir | November 26, 2005 | Category Iran
God! That’s great! One hundred eighty lawyers ask Gaji’s lawyer to be released “at the moment” (see). They believe that he is been in custody without any evidence (see). They ask for his trial if he is charged with anything. Great to see that people are starting to ask these idiots in the judiciary. It’s the best news I have heard today.
Essential Goods!
Kamangir | November 26, 2005 | Category Iran
As stated here, governments produce lists of goods purchased most frequently. Then they use these lists to measure deflation. As listed there, Champaign and some other hot things are being added to the list by different countries. Read the whole story here. I was thinking about the similar list if Iran, if it exists at all, it will include “nose plastic surgery”, “techie products such as cell phones”, and “cars”.
A home accessory like wooden furniture is the most common and affordable thing with which most people can decorate their houses. With the advent of internet, placing a computer desk into your living or study room has also become a part of home furnishing. There are different types of furnishings; and ashley furniture is a trendier one.
Chess and …
Kamangir | November 26, 2005 | Category Iran

This little nice girl is a bit weird. She is a world-class chess-master from Russia. And just to prove that genius people are always so close to insanity, she has a personal webpage containing “strange” images of her (see). She is not selling nude pictures of herself, but she does something similar to that (You may find it nude! see). She is also so interested to be on the cover of magazines, even those who are not seriously concerned with chess (see). She claims her homepage to be “The most visited Grandmaster site in the world!” It seems to be so. Read about her here.

When Bad People Fight
Kamangir | November 26, 2005 | Category Iran
According to the law, the new president should complete his cabinet in three months. This process includes nominating people to parliament and getting the vote there. Now, the strange event happens in a complete conservative head of the state. Parliament has rejected three candidates of president for ministry of petroleum (see). As the three-month interval is passed, according to the law, the guardian council has to interpret the constitution in this situation. There are at least two possibilities:
- The president should nominate a new person as soon as possible.
- There should be another three-month due.
Logically, the second choice is a bit funny because then the law will read, the president has three months which can be extended if he does not succeed. What? Now, what is the reality? Elham, cabinet’s speaker, says “an extra three-month due has to be given to the president” (see). Interesting to know that he is a member of the guardian council, another conservative institution, too. Guardian council speaker says “president has to nominate new minister as soon as possible” (see). He adds, no request for interpretation of constitution is received yet, though. It seems that the president is ignoring guardian council too (see). There is a Persian proverb that says “when bad people fight, it is all good one’s benefit“. Let them kill each other, I don’t care.

Hung-Up Knives
Kamangir | November 26, 2005 | Category Iran
I knew Morteza Momaiez for his works, specially the “hung up knives”. I saw a replicated version of his work in the contemporary art museum in Tehran a few years ago. It was really horrifying to go below all those knives hung up from the ceiling, just above your head. I remember that one them actually hit my head, being too tall is sometimes not a good thing! (or as my mother-in-law says being tall-and-tall) . He died of prostate cancer (see, see, see). I have not seen any news about a message from President or minister of culture. Did they really forget it?
“People Will Face Parliament”
Kamangir | November 23, 2005 | Category Iran
“If parliament do not approve him (the last proposed candidate for petroleum ministry) then people will face them”. As the rumors say, that’s President’s private quote before parliament members voted for the new proposed minister-to-be, who was then rejected (see).
اگر مجلس به اين گزينه وزارت Ù†Ùت هم رأي ندهد، مردم تكلي٠مجلس را مشخص خواهند كرد
Now, we may face the “people facing parliament” actually happening. There are some questions here:
1- Who are these people? Those who elected Ahmadinejad lately? How much is he sure that they all back him now?
2- Wasn’t this parliament basically elected by those people too?
3- Is “people facing parliament” a newly recognized act in the constitution? How is it practiced?
4- So, parliament members are not essentially free to vote for rejecting a minister-to-be?
5- Isn’t that parliament the same one in which some people were talking about voting Ahmadinejad out of his office? Isn’t there a loop of power here?
6- Where the hell is Iranian political system going?
p.s. I can’t translate this. That’s a key conservative figure’s sentence to convince MPs to vote positive (see)
And, these guys can’t even govern their own meetings. Parliament speaker, which is actually its head in Iran, mentions “there seem to be 225 people here while 261 voting cards are distributed”! (see)
p.s.2 The rumor was rejected by Presidency’s public-relations(see) and the original news is deleted from Baztab’s frontpage.
Shame
Kamangir | November 23, 2005 | Category Iran

Ganji is still in prison. He is there because of what he thinks. I do shame. Though, shame is a small word for this. At least, there are others that do care (see). Shame on me.
Speech and Money
Kamangir | November 22, 2005 | Category Iran
My late grandfather had a very quote of himself “speech is like the air”. By that, he meant do not give attention to what people say. He was using this advice in order to reduce tensions in our home, produced by “cold” words, as he liked to call unpleasant statements. My father was always opposed to him, he was much more idealistic to approve such a liberal attitude. I have clues that sometimes one word worthes lots of money. See here for an eighty-percent increase in GM’s stock after Kirk Kerkorian proposed to buy 5% of its shares. Also, just take a look at what Ahmadinejad did when he proposed to “wipe Israel off the map”.
Good News and Bad News
Kamangir | November 22, 2005 | Category Iran

Good News: Khatami condemns news, spread by conservatives, that he has approved Ahmadinajad’s speech in which he stated “Israel should be wiped off the map” (see). Though, like always, he is not willing to announce it. He is not the one to stop conservatives.Bad News: Jannati, guardian council’s speaker, expressed “non-Muslim people are like animals, wandering around in the earth and corrupting”. He expressed many other brilliant ideas that I am not able to translate. Some quotes like “martyrs caused people to live and to not to slaughter each other” (see). Apparently, Zoroastrian’s representative in the parliament condemned this (see). And I am sure when I saw the news this morning, the same website included more text with some phrases which read “I apologize animals because even they do not do such things”, but now it is a very short text there. Funny thing is that another conservative member of parliament also asks for not concerning these ideas as official ideas of Jannati (see). He asks Jannati, although very politely, to think more when he is speaking.
Typo or …
Kamangir | November 22, 2005 | Category Iran
It is a movement to send emails to IAEA to back what is called “Iran’s right to have clean access to nuclear power” (see). It also gives translation help. You can send your letter and they will translate it into English. I found this in the translations (see):
Dear Members of Governors : I am the political worker ,be aware that ,if you want to deprive our rights with irrelevant and spurious excuses ,each Iranian youth will be the nuclear bomb for your world.
Statistics of Access to a Cleric, Updated
Kamangir | November 21, 2005 | Category Iran
These statistics are from here. I am trying to compare the visitor/question of different categories. It is interesting that most frequently visited category is the new-problems one. It contains question like “can I watch pornography and may I act like them” and the answer is “do not see it but do it” (see). Another interesting point is that questions about prayers or fasting are down the list. Now, the question is, what are the key concerns of Muslims now? One reasonable suggestion is that nobody has any problem with his prayers, they want to know about new topics. Another answer could be, these statistics are produced by idiot web-surfers that search every corner of the internet for mature subjects. Maybe. Though, values are interesting, at least to me.

V/Q stands for visitor per question
p.s. This is the result of discussing with Azadeh the material of this post. If this cleric is asked for new subjects about four times more than how often he is asked for traditional religious matters, then how do you think he should manage his time and education. If he spends 1 hour reading those old Islamic books, shouldn’t he spend four hours reading sociology and economy. Or as Azadeh correctly suggests, nobody can be an expert in all these fields, so doesn’t he have to have four new-age consultants for each traditional one he has.

Politics and Us
Kamangir | November 21, 2005 | Category Iran
Aristotle believed that “humans are political animals”. In this framework, Iranians are much more human than many other nations. Security agencies are now looking for real reasons of dense traffic in Tehran in recent days. They believe there is some politics behind it (see)!

Starting to Become a President
Kamangir | November 21, 2005 | Category Iran
At last he is getting used to luxury presidential things (see). Ahmadinejad is now using private jets for going around. I love this guy.
We are…
Kamangir | November 21, 2005 | Category Iran
We are funny! We could have shut-down nuclear facilities all over these years and could have stopped all those ready-to-come sanctions. But, where our pride would be? So, we do it “voluntarily” now and call it “because of technical repairs”. We are bloody funny (see).
We are idiot! Just think what we will say if some American guys stone Imam Reza’s shrine’s model. White house is a national heritage in the states. Are we going to know that at last?(see)
By the way, our politicians seem to have inherited the same silly brains. Khatami is backing Ahmadinajad’s words about Israel (see)! Do you believe?
His Son
Kamangir | November 18, 2005 | Category Iran

I did saw Bush family in presidential campaigns. Also, Lora seemed to follow George Bush in many journeys. Iranian ministery of state is going in the same way. When he goes for a visit to Tehran metro project, he brings his son (I think he is his sin, because his always so close to him) (see).
End of Weblog Era
Kamangir | November 18, 2005 | Category Iran
It was always strange to me why Koroush stopped refreshing his weblog (see). And now, Ali is quiting his weblog (see). Is it the end first round of weblogging in Iran? What would the bext round be like?
Nice Caricature
Kamangir | November 18, 2005 | Category Iran

Iran was hit by a barrage of Western condemnation after its hardline president called for Israel to be “wiped off the map”, but the clerical regime struck back with yet more verbal attacks against the Jewish state. The image is from here.
