Good News and Bad News

Kamangir | November 22, 2005 | Category Iran

Good News: Khatami condemns news, spread by conservatives, that he has approved Ahmadinajad’s speech in which he stated “Israel should be wiped off the map” (see). Though, like always, he is not willing to announce it. He is not the one to stop conservatives.Bad News: Jannati, guardian council’s speaker, expressed “non-Muslim people are like animals, wandering around in the earth and corrupting”. He expressed many other brilliant ideas that I am not able to translate. Some quotes like “martyrs caused people to live and to not to slaughter each other” (see). Apparently, Zoroastrian’s representative in the parliament condemned this (see). And I am sure when I saw the news this morning, the same website included more text with some phrases which read “I apologize animals because even they do not do such things”, but now it is a very short text there. Funny thing is that another conservative member of parliament also asks for not concerning these ideas as official ideas of Jannati (see). He asks Jannati, although very politely, to think more when he is speaking.
