When Bad People Fight
Kamangir | November 26, 2005 | Category Iran
According to the law, the new president should complete his cabinet in three months. This process includes nominating people to parliament and getting the vote there. Now, the strange event happens in a complete conservative head of the state. Parliament has rejected three candidates of president for ministry of petroleum (see). As the three-month interval is passed, according to the law, the guardian council has to interpret the constitution in this situation. There are at least two possibilities:
- The president should nominate a new person as soon as possible.
- There should be another three-month due.
Logically, the second choice is a bit funny because then the law will read, the president has three months which can be extended if he does not succeed. What? Now, what is the reality? Elham, cabinet’s speaker, says “an extra three-month due has to be given to the president” (see). Interesting to know that he is a member of the guardian council, another conservative institution, too. Guardian council speaker says “president has to nominate new minister as soon as possible” (see). He adds, no request for interpretation of constitution is received yet, though. It seems that the president is ignoring guardian council too (see). There is a Persian proverb that says “when bad people fight, it is all good one’s benefit“. Let them kill each other, I don’t care.
