How to Back Your DVDs Up

Kamangir | February 7, 2006 | Category Personal

There are situations when you buy a DVD and then do not want to loose it. So, you may want to make a back up of the movie you’ve just bought. There are also other occasions in which you may want to back DVDs up, but I am not talking about them. You know, we have to remain in the circle of law.

I was concerned with this problem and spent a few days finding the answer, so I think maybe others would be intrested in my results. The process is like this, you have a DVD which is probably having a region code. You have to crack the code and copy the DVD to your hard drive (in VOB format). Then, you have to convert the VOB files to a DIVX AVI file. To watch VOB files use Sigma Player (see). There are a few tools to convert a DVD to VOB (see). But I do not recommend them. What I recommend is a very good package called RipPack (see). That’s great and does both jobs! Remember to change the language from French to English and to use MP3 as the sound codec.
