Akbar Ganji

Kamangir | February 28, 2006 | Category Iran

About six years ago, Akbar Ganji was sentenced to six years in jail because of what he wrote in some articles in those days’ newspapers. There, he attacked how the non-democratic portions of the Islamic Republic rule and survive. Now, all those newspapers are banned and the new president’s central goal seems to be “reaching peaceful nuclear energy”. In one sense, there is no such thing as the non-democratic portion of the government, now. What we see today is a completely non-democratic regime (see) (see).

Akbar Ganji should be released 20 days hence. However, I do not think Ahmadinejad and his allies would accept his presence in today’s Iran. The counter in the right side of this page counts for his release (the exact time of his release is not known precisely, it should be after 20-25 days).

p.s. Counter’s original Java code is not mine. I found it in another weblog whose name I do not remember.
