Woman Against Women

She is one the few Iranian female Mojtaheds (Persian: مجتهد) and still she can’t help not support the male code of Islam. Mojtahed, which literally means the one who can do research on Islamic laws, is one of the topmost positions in Shia Islam. According to Shia every Muslim should select a Mojtahed and follow him, recently also her, in everything, exactly everything. Becoming a Mojtahed, which is the Ph.D. in religious studies, takes 15 to 20 years of work (see) and is issued to clergy students after other Mojtaheds accept them (see). Zohreh Sefati (Persian: زهره صÙاتی‌) has been admitted to be a Mojtahed by couple of other top clerics among them her husband Grand Ayatollh Ahmadi Faqih (Persian: آية الله العظمی اØÙ…دی Ùقیه). In her website (see) she begins with “at the age of communication of ideas, looking deep into the religion…is amongst the most important issues…”. Looking at the list of questions in her website about new Islamic problems (see), in their literature means something like new geometric problems, people have asked about abortion and sex chat. A few lines below someone asks why men can have more than one wives while women should be limited to only one husband. She begins with the general introduction that “Islam is an integrated body of rules and none of them should be looked at independently” and continues with remembering that “men should face their wives equally”. Then, she touches the hot topic. She states “There are plenty of reasons why women can not have more than one husband. First, it is an issue of instinct (she uses the religious word fetrat (Persian: Ùطرت) which means nature or creation). On the other hand, women are the means of continuations of human beings and to ask for responsibilities we always have to know the actual father…You never see an [male] animal getting too close to a female one [which is not his mate]“. Then she continues “if a man is disturbing the family’s tranquility then he is not entitled to marry another woman”. I really have no comment on her idea. If she thinks women are machines to bring offsprings to the earth I think she is quite right in her argument. On the other hand, she gives no clue whether animals have plenty of wives or not. I suppose cocks have an entire nest of wives. So, why not?
