The Iranian state-run ultra-right newspaper Kayhan writes on the cover “Zeidan left football proudly”. The article describes “the French capitan accepted to loose the trivial glory…to defend his Islamic identity and to prove his obedience to his religious beliefs. He did not touch the cup but he has the Islamic world admiring him” (see).
