Why at School?
Kamangir | October 3, 2006 | Category Iran
I read this morning in the paper about the Amish school shooting incident (that’s were I learnt the name Amish). It seems this is the third horrible experience like this for Americans, in just one week, and I can imagine how many times the Iranian national television will repeat this sentence to show that America is right at the middle of the hell. Any way, I don’t know why these things happen, even though I have seen Bowling for Columbine, and actually I am not very much concerned about it now. I have another question.
I can understand that any person can get really mad. Then, some may think of a bloody revenge. I understand this. But, why do they choose schools? Charles Carl Roberts IV seems to have wanted to kill young girls. Obviously, you can find more young girls in a cinema or an amusement park or a market place or even a church/mosque. Does anyone know why they prefer schools? And I am assuming that a hundred others do not happen in the list of places I mentioned in the above.

Yea! Amish School shooting was really horrible. Why at school? Last night CBC had an interview with a professor of University of Toronto who was a criminologist; he said they want to produce as much unnecessary pain and suffering as possible in the shortest period of time. That’s why they choose schools. Another professor was relating this shooting to Montreal shooting in last month as a copycat.
Amish people seem very peace-loving people and choosing this specific school is strange. (Since I’ve come to Winnipeg I can see more Amish people here, much more than Toronto and they seem very nice)
BTW, I liked to meet you, but I don’t know which department are you in? Where is your office?
Still, I think there are places where a moron can kill more people more simpler than that.
He wanted children, where else do you find a child in the middle of the day? These people are predators so they look for the weakest possible victims, which is often unfortunately children. I also doubt this is an American issue that could be properly explained by “Bowling for Columbine” This is deep rooted sexual anger and this focus or selectiveness of females for such anger is nothing new in most every society worldwide. I should point out that a very like comparison of this event can be found in Canada…

Bucket,
So, you see it as an anti-feminine attack?
But, why do they choose schools?
Because children are there and many schools don’t have any security. It’s easy to force your way into schools and force a showdown with police by taking a few children hostage.
Instead of anti-feminine we most often use the word misogynist. Yes I feel both recent events in US schools were misogynist attacks, or hate crimes.
Bucket,
This is interesting…
Lesly,
That makes sense.
