How to Beat Women, Properly
Kamangir | October 28, 2006 | Category Iran
Only for the record; women in some cultures have no problem with being beaten, in contrary, they consider it as an “expression of masculinity” (see). However, beating should be carried out in a special way which “must not cause bleeding” (see). This is what the “women’s manual” suggests and “we shouldn’t be ashamed before the nations of the world who are still in their days of ignorance” (see).

What a bunch of bull. Some people seem to forget that the Prophet Muhammad never hit a woman, child, servant, or animal, and that he is supposed to be the example for us.
Musicalchef,
This is also interseting for comparing the probably idea of God about veil and what is practiced now (see).
Musicalchef,
May be he didn’t(however sleeping with a 9 year old is worse) but he and his God asked his followers to do so.Just read your Koran again.
Sounds like an entrenched position to me…
I’m glad I was not born a woman in a Muslim country!
which species can beat female???: human race = men … sorry… it seems very stupid, not rational
Oh my, beating as expression of masculinity. How dumb!.
This guy has a 9th century mind-set.
That guy is a mad asshole, no question about that. However, you have to realise that this clip is publishd by Memri, which has VERY questionable policites towards the whole of the middle east.

Sina,
I like your point and and it is actually my question too. I think Muslims really need to find an answer for it.
Moif,
You should be! I know many Iranian girls and women who feel alike. By the way, my experience from living in Iran says that it is amongst the best Muslims countries, in this sense. My idea is that it is not Islam which encourages people to treat their wives brutally. Actually, it is the tradition, backed by the male-friendly Islam. We do have men in Iran who beat their wives, but at least they do not prescribe it publicly and they live in remote rural areas.
Ella,
I was wondering is he asks his wife whenever he begins beating “Darling! do you like a little sexy punch in the face?”
Simon,
As I know, Memri’s chief is a retired Israeli intelligence officer. I think that says everything. But still, that piece was broadcast from a station in the middle east, and that’s shameful, for me.
I think we are saying the same thing.
What I wonder though Kamangir, is how great a difference is there between male-friendly tradition and Islam? From my personal point of view, I can’t really see much of a difference between them.
I listened to an interview with Ayaan Hirsi Ali on Danish radio today. You can hear it here…

…its an interesting listen for some one like me with little actual insight into the Islamic mind.
Moif,
Let’s call whatever has a reference in the written literature of the early days as Islam and then what people have added to it as tradition. I think it is a pity for God that his work easily changes into support for traditional brutal acts. Still, it is important, at least for me, to know where the line is. Because that is an opportunity for Muslims to come back and define new borders which constitute a more reasonable ideology.
