Fishy Republic of Iran

Kamangir | November 27, 2006 | Category Iran

A plane carrying Sepah crew and their families took off from Tehran for Shiraz, but landed in Tehran, all burnt out. Sepah’s chief commander first addressed the incident as something “carrying significant information”, because “it has happened in the Basij week [a week in the clanedar is assigned to appreciating Basij's rule in the society]” (see). He added “we are surrounded by enemies, and even there are enemies inside us”. Soon he, and others, blamed technical reasons.

If you were an Iranian, your first impression from all this would be, “you know what? something is fishy here!”

    Samira,
This is how Google defines it.

Fishy: not as expected; “there was something fishy about the accident”; “up to some funny business”; “some definitely queer goings-on”; “a shady deal”; “her motives were suspect”; “suspicious behavior”
