Iranian Pursuit of Civil Rights

Kamangir | January 12, 2007 | Category Iran

Iranians are learning very well how to use the telecommunication technology to pursue their civil liberties. Following the law which mandated registration of all blogs and web sites (see), the Blogestan blow off with posts in every blog condemning the obstruction of the primary right of freedom of speech. This is a short list of Persian sources discussing the law (see). Soon, Osyan prepared a banner, both in Persian and in English, telling “I will not register my blog”, also shown in the left corner of Kamangir. Many blogs that I have visited recently carry the banner.

The second protest is even more amazing. Reportedly, many Tehranis are talking about having a day without any cellphone communication to protest the huge numbers in the bills, issued by the state-run telecommunication company (see). Guess how the message is spread? They use SMS messages in the same state-run system. Dr Ahmadinejad! I think you are a bit too outdated for such a creative nation!

p.s. This blogger is asking the minister if he will quit the law in the case most bloggers oppose to it!

p.s.2. This is a Google Bomb: censorship

Chemical Jihad

Kamangir | January 12, 2007 | Category Iran

An Iraqi group in Samarra claim to posses chemical weapons, which they seem to be using against Americans (see). See the footage of men pouring a black liquid into shells and then shouting “Allah is great” when they launch the rockets (see).
