The Science of Martyrdom

Kamangir | February 5, 2007 | Category Iran

At last in two different spots in Tehran symbolic “human chains” were formed to protect “the nuclear energy”. In the first event, the monument in the Freedom Square was shielded and the second chain was shaped up in Mahallati Square, a less-developed southern area of Tehran. According to the pictures taken in the events, chains were made up of students, girls and boys. Remembering the eight-year “holy defense” this doesn’t have a good meaning, even symbolically. One of the banners reads “nuclear energy is our definite right, Iranian student is tomorrow’s scientist”. I am not quite sure what that means, but to my understanding, a dead person can not become a scientists, even if he/she is a great martyr.

I mean really, why even bother tackling unemployment, drug addiction, lack of social freedoms, or a highly subjective legal system when you have nuclear power? Let them eat yellowcake!
