Right Before the Big Game

Sepah started a new drill, as anticipated by the insiders about a month ago. Is this the last maneuver, before the big game? Here is a footage broadcast from the national television.

Wonder what they are cooking up? Is this another pointless display or some kind of sign of things to come?
-J. Kaiser
J,
I think they try to show up their preparedness for the war.
Do they seriously think they could withstand a U.S. led invasion?
J,
They sure do. I remind you that “withstanding” the US has two meanings; they might end up throwing the US out of Iran, or, equivalently, they may get their ticket to the heaven. I think they prefer the second option more and I am not kidding.
One of the scariest things I ever read, was an interview with an Iranian president (can’t remember which) where he claimed Iran could wipe Israel off the map with ONE nuclear weapon. that he was foolish enough to think such could be achieved was bad enough, but he admitted that even if it meant several Iranian cities wiped out, such would be acceptable. Worse yet, he didn’t think Iran would suffer if it attacked Israel- but if it did, such was an acceptable risk in order to end the “Zionist regime.”
-J. Kaiser
J,
Yes, he was Rafsanjani, the president before the former one.
Kamangir,
Do you believe Iran has no chance in defending itself against the US? Do you believe military conflict will weaken the theocracy?
I think you all are underestimating Iran’s capabilities. Or is this precaution speaking with me?
I think you’re right, Tsedek. The government may be deluded and gung-ho, but the army is not in the stone age and America will not be able to simply buy out the entire military as it did in Iraq. This is not a joke of a war we are dealing with.
Many pro-Americans say that the US army will wipe the floor with the revolutionary guard: I ask them, what are they basing this on? When have they ever seen the US army attack a technologically advanced, prepared, well-funded and resolute army?
These ever-increasing threats will lead nowhere. The US cannot afford any more disasters. Besides the ‘inevitable rights’ are slowly being accepted by EU diplomats in the media.
Zaratzara
I have no doubt that americans have the means to wipe up the IRI army and pasdaran but that’s not the point. Americans will not use all their army, because the civilian deaths will be too large. IRI might not care about that but american public will.
As for “inevitable rights” being accepted by EU diplomats that is also not true. EU diplomats always think first about the economy and the oil supply than about anything else, that’s why from the beginning EU was against american war in Iraq (they were thinking about large oil contracts by French and Germans with Saddam government) and they stand to lose contracts for improving IRI oil facilities to China if americans will attack IRI. EU politicians also think about votes from the muslim community, mainly in France and Germany. But often they do not take long term view, not many politicians do in the west.
Zaratzara,
I’d have to say the two most glaring examples of the US attacking well-funded, highly advanced, and resolute armies would be the simultaneous wars with Germany and Japan.
Iran is no Pre-WWII Germany or Japan. Nor do they have matching technology to the US, which both Germany and Japan possessed.
No one wants a war as casualties will be high for both sides without a doubt. I just don’t think you can call it an even battle. Iran’s military equipment was “modern” when Michael Jackson was releasing his first solo album.
zaratzara,
I think any military action will strengthen the IR, at least for a while.
