Experimental Preparedness
Kamangir | March 5, 2007 | Category Iran

Kayhan writes,
Basij Reistance Force Commander, Hejazi, stated that the country is prepared very well. “If the enemy commits any idiocy, they will be slapped right on the face, like they have never been treated anywhere in the world”. He mentioned these words in the ceremony of beginning air-tactic courses for Basij members. The tactics will learn Basij members how to fly planes and also how to use parachutes. Hejazi also stated “some people think that Basij members only can carry out small tasks. This is a false idea. There were commanders in the war [with Iraq] who came from Basij”. The Basij air force is to be implemented in Tehran as well as in ten more provinces. The ceremony was followed by air shows carried out by light planes and hellicopters.
Kayhan used two pictures of the event for its front page (as shown in the above). More pictures are published in other sources (Fars, Mehr, Mehr).
One of the sources has published a picture of the commander testing one of the equipments. The “perimental” on the side of the plane reads like “experimental” to me, and makes me really worried. Another picture in another source shows a similar plane were the “experimental” is completely readble (click to enlarge).

I think the commander can really enjoy his smile. He might be on board an experimental plane, but at least he has the determined Basij member, who is ready to die for him. Good for him, bad for the boy.
