The Good “Zionist”

It is no secret that whenever I tried to talk to Lisa Goldman, the second sentence was the beginning of the end. But, anyway, can you not love a blogger who writes,
…the government appointed no less than two committees … to waste taxpayer’s money while they try to decide what we should call that deadly 35-day, um, conflict we had up on the northern border last summer….
I wonder what Herzl would’ve said if he’d known, way back in 1897, that nearly 60 years after the establishment of his Judenstaat, it would still be fighting wars with its neighbours on a regular basis?

Hi Arash, thanks for the link. I am a bit surprised at your interest in what seems to me one of my more inconsequential posts. After all, about one third of the Israeli blogosphere has written something about this subject, more or less along the same lines of cynical disgust.
I was wondering, how do you define the term Zionist? And did you ever read an old post of mine called My Zionist Hero? It might help explain to you (or your readers) that Zionists are a very diverse lot who fall under a wide political spectrum.

Sorry! There seems to be no way around this.
For the term “Zionist”, its contemporary usage in Iran, for calling someone form Israel, is like using the term Jihadist for anyone from the Middle East. I guess I am a bit sleepy. Let’s talk tomorrow.
