IR: Atomic Bomb? Maybe not a Bad Idea…

Filed under: Iran — Kamangir @ 11:57 pm

Alef, a right-wing website, published a piece titled “ten points about Resolution 1747″. There, the author first speculates that more resolutions are on the way, while he emphasizes that there is a long way till a total embargo on Iranian oil would be on the table. The piece follows with discussing how Islamic Republic’s friends, including China and Russia, acted. The interesting part of the piece is the tenth item, where the author writes,

The unprecedented warning of the Supreme Leader to the West, that Iran could start acting illegally in the nuclear affairs, was extensively covered in the Western media. While it had no effect on this resolution it might be effective in the future. Although, the pressure has not had any effect on the daily life of Iranians, and on the economy of Iran, if the West goes further than this and the sanctions start affecting Iran, then many people in Iran would start asking if we are paying the price of owning a nuclear bomb, why not really posses it and benefit from it.

  3. “Iran would start asking if we are paying the price of owning a nuclear bomb, why not really posses it and benefit from it.”

Because the price of just talking about owning it is higher than Iran wants and the price of actually owning it would be much much higher and detrimental to the leadership of Iran. Just my take on it.
