IR MP: Punish UK for What US Has Done

Kamangir | March 26, 2007 | Category Iran

Baztab quotes a member of the Parliament saying,

This is not the first time that when the interests of the UK are endangered, lobbies [inside the administration] push for actions towards their [UK's] satisfaction. This time, the Foreign Ministry does not have the right to back off. They must be determined to defend the logical and lawful stance of Tehran in prosecuting the invaders.

After two months from the detention of the Iranian diplomats in Arbil, which was carried out completely unlawfully, no effective action has been taken by the ministry. Thus, insistence on the fundamental stance of the Islamic Republic is the least the Foreign Ministry could do.

The European countries must know that for the Islamic Republic the occupiers of Iraq are alike and if Iranian nationals and diplomats do not have security in Iraq, there is no reason why we should treat those who invade the Iranian territory humbly.

I said it once before and I still believe it; The Brits are not someone to play these types of political games with. It is like trying to control a rattlesnake with just your hands, a dangerous affair. The Brits are an old and wiley opponent to scruff up this way. They are hard to scare and their bite is sharp and can be brutal. I cannot see any good coming from this, especially if it continues in this fashion.

    I agree with thescoundrel

Iran is playing a losing game messing with the British, you’ve never seen a more potent, deadly and single minded foe as you’ll have if you choose England to start a fight with.

To put your mind at ease, maybe just a bit….

    This from Reuters…

Captain, USS Eisenhower: “”We do not foresee, and have no desire to engage in any kind of kinetic exchange with any force in the region…. Cloyd said the carriers would carry out anti-submarine maneuvers, anti-mine exercises and will practice operating against surface ships…. Iran’s navy began a week of exercises in the Gulf last Thursday with submarines and small missile carrying ships…. ‘We interact occasionally here in the Gulf and waters outside of the Gulf with Iranian navy and airforce units, they operate with us in a very professional and courteous way.’ ” (Reuters)

…that leaves the British to deal with.
