Analogy: What if CNN Showed Iranian “Diplomats”?
Kamangir | March 29, 2007 | Category Iran
This is from Where.
Could it be Sillier Than This?
Imagine that the CNN shows the detained Iranian diplomats, and lets forget that they are members of the Quds Army and call anyone who holds a diplomatic passport a diplomat. Imagine that they say,
American brothers were very hospitable. We were not diplomats. In fact, we were helping Shia Iraqi insurgents. I am sorry that we did this and I hope they forgive us. All my colleagues are doing well and they are being treated very well.
When this happens, does it matter to us whether or not they are telling the “truth”? At the moment these pictures are aired in the CNN or Fox, the most important thing is that these picture are against the humanity. We are just ordinary people. Media leaders and politicians would act more severely; Mottaki [the Islamic Republic Foreign Minister] will grab a letter and will approach the UN to officially complain about the way Americans have treated Iranians.
Even worse, what would happen if one of the diplomats writes a letter to his family and then the official American news agency publishes the letter.
Do the Iranian administration not have the power to think this much? Do they not understand that doing what they have done has no benefit and does not prove anything, not mentioning that it will agitate politicians, media, and the public against Iran? What does it mean when we let one of them go? What is the difference between releasing a male or a female soldier? Are they hostages that we are releasing them one by one?
Such actions leave no room for those optimists who hold banners in the streets and chant against attacking Iran. They would think twice before doing so next time.
