State-Run Newspaper Mocks Ahmadinejad

Jam-e Jam is the newspaper published by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), head of which is assigned by the Supreme Leader. The newspaper also holds the highest publication rate in the country. Today, in an appendix to the newspaper, a serious article which discussed the relativity theory was decorated with a picture of Einstein writing on a blackboard. The problem is, the text on the blackboard is not a set of bizarre mathematical equations, as we might expect it to be. Using Pinglish, wiring Persian with English alphabet, “Einstein” writes,
I made the worse mistake ever to discover atom and stuff!! Hey! Mahmoud! for God’s sake forget it!

I’m glad to see, that you removed your “Nuke Him” banner-creation, Kamangir. Thanx! Einstein, according to his later recognition about his discovery would be glad too :-)

For non-Iranians in this weblog, I should add a little description. This type of joke is something that frequently happens in Iranian media. Most of the times everyone skips without any problem but sometimes it makes a big noise, it might even end up to arresting the writers or artists and putting them in jail. Usually the author, graphist, or cartoonist makes it such a way that it could be interpreted in completely two different ways. It all depends on how you think about the subject.
For example for this pictures, as a person who is against Ahmadinejad’s ideas, it simply means that he is woodenhead. However, if you are a pro-Ahmadinejad person, working in a governmental job, or member of so called 20 million army of Basij, this cartoon can be interpreted in completely different way which is, Einstein as a western person wonders how strong and persistent this president is about his way. That is why he is conveying his regret!
(kasi midoone kam avordan chi mishe be englisi?)
This allows the artist to defend or save him/herself if a case comes up against him/her.
