Khomeini, Rocketry, and “Peaceful” Nuclear Technology

Today was the National Army Day in Iran. In many cities, army units marched in front of the administration figures, that would be Ahmadinejad in Tehran. Predictably, the Islamic Republic tried to link this national day to its ambitions. The banner in the picture below reads “peaceful nuclear energy is a fundamental necessity of the country”. The relationship between “peaceful” nuclear energy, a big rocket, and Khomeini’s portrait is something only the Islamic Republic is able to establish. More pictures of the event here, here, and here.

Hey Vince, I think you might be on to something. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad does look like a chimpanzee with a beard to me.

Quote from Planet of thr Apes:

Cornelius: [reading from the sacred scrolls of the apes] Beware the beast man, for he is the Devil’s pawn. Alone among God’s primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother’s land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his lair, for he is the harbinger of death.

Sounds like the beast man is Ahmadinejad to me!!

Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!

    Heeheehee

Tedders, are you sure you’re not talking about Cheney, the Rovians and Rumsfeldians and the smirking chimp aka commander in chief?

Jeanna, I’m pretty sure they didn’t put up a big picutre of Cheney and Bush at the Tehran missile parade. I think that’s actually Khomeini’s portrait.

I like those pictures. I got a kick out of the grails mounted in the bed of the truck.

To play devil’s advocate, let’s not forget that the nuclear program in Iran began under the Shah with US blessings and aid packages.

Let’s not forget Khomeini’s brand of militant Islam promoting the establishment of Caliphates around the world and exporting the islamic revolution either:
