Mehdi Kolhar, Ahmadinejad’s media adviser, said “Ahmadinejad rejected Oliver Stone’s request [to make a film about Ahmadinejad]“. He said “I sent Dr Ahmadinejad’s rejection to Oliver Stone because even though he is in the opposition in the states, but even the opposition in the states is a part of the big satan”. He added “We believe that the American movie-production system does not contain any element of culture or art and is only a tool”. “I must add that Dr Ahmadinejad was personally against this”. He concluded, “However, it is very clear why Stone asked for doing the movie. He [Ahmadinejad] is an appealing figure in the world and the Americans always look for what can return their investment”.

Americans do like a return on their investments, but so does everyone else in the world. That’s why Iran’s state sector, which controls 81% of the economy, leaves at least 41% of the population (+/- 3%) extremely dissatisfied with the state of the Islamic Republic’s economy according to Zogby International.

The results of these polls are worth their weight in gold. http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1147

Very interesting poll. However I was a little surprised by following statement:
Younger and older Iranians would favor a more conservative, religious society, while those aged 30–49 said they would favor a more liberal, secular culture.
I thought that the younger people would prefer more secular culture.

What is your impression? Would you agree with this finding?

The complete poll is worth a peak if you can get your hands on it. If you live near a state university they should have a copy in their political science/international relations department.

I hope one of provincial universities in my area will have a copy. ;-)
