Although, Ahmadinejed’s media adviser sharply rejected any deal with Oliver Stone, the story seems to be more complicated than that. Javad Shamghadari, Ahmadinejad’s arts’ adviser, almost found a solution. He said “If Stone helps an Iranian director make a movie about Bush, then it would become possible for him to make a movie about the Iranian president, Ahmadinejad”. Apparently, many directors, including some Iranian ones, have asked to work on a movie about Ahmadinejad. “He is a very busy man and only one director can have the chance to film parts of his life”. He concluded “the basic idea of doing the movie is very good but the idea must be well though and a good candidate must be picked”.

To make the politics of movie-making more interesting, Fars reports that Micheal Moore has been invited to Tehran for a festival called “Cinema Truth”. Fars introduces Moore as “the creator of SiCKO, a documentary in which the American insurance and health-care system is utterly criticized”. The festival is managed by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center. Hotair raises the question “I can’t tell if they’re state-sponsored or not”. Well, looking at a snapshot of their building published in their website, the Islamic Republic emblem can be clearly seen on the top-left of the plaque. They are indeed a part of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
[...] Update: Iranian dissident blogger Kamangir notes the emblem of the Islamic Republic on the film festival sign and suspects it’s state-sponsored. [...]

Moore’s invited, eh? Sensationalist bullshitter though he may be, I wonder if even he will stoop so low as to attend.
Time will tell.
