Attack on Kamangir

Starting at 15:47:08, Central Time, Kamangir was attacked from the IP address 83.223.107.9. The attack resulted in CPU overload which downed the blog for over an hour and half. The hacker script is still running, sending a request 30 times every second. As a lateral safeguard, I upgraded Wordpress to the newest version. Unfortunately, because Wordpress does not handle Unicode characters very well, I lost all the Persian text, thus having serious trouble in the Persian Kamangir. Sob, I contacted Blue Host and they used a backup to solve the problem. Let me put it this way, if you like to blog joyously, use Wordpress on Blue Host. That’s the way to go, to my understanding.

    Kamangir: Thanks Paelo. The thing is, for some reason, some IP addresses which come out of Iran or anonymizers show Amsterdam, too. Thanks for your help though. :)

    “83.223.107.9.” is not a valid IP address and no valid host.

    Example for a IP Address: 66.230.188.82

    According to http://www.dnsstuff.com 83.223.107.9 is in the United Kingdom.

    You are right. The attack come from London. The ISP is Gyron Internet and organization Blakfoot Hosting according to MaxMind :-)

    This bst..ard/bsdrds who did that could even be based in Amsterdam. Amsterdam is still a host to some salafist/jihadist groups.
    However such attack shows that your blog is popular with people otherwise why spend time to attack your site.
