Rape and Suicide in Kermanshah University
Kamangir | July 12, 2007 | Category Human Rights, Iran
A truth-worthy students organization reports that a female student in Kermanshah University committed suicide on June 8, following being raped by a professor. Fortunately, the girl is recovering. A protest is planned for Saturday and the professor’s name will be published as soon as the matters become completely clear.

Very sad. However the name should not be published, he will be tortured.
Kamangir, if the poor girl is recovering then it’s attempted suicide. I was sure from the headline and the first part of the entry that the student is dead.
In any case, it’s good that she’s alive. Hopefully she’ll be able to have a normal life, unless she ends up being accused for her own rape that is. Sadly, that would not surprise me.

Why his name should not be published? Rape is a crime.
Have you ever asked yourself what might be a fate of this girl. She not only have a psychological trauma ( as evidenced from her attempt to commit suicide), she might be afraid of any sex relation in future (say, with her future husband)and she will not be a virgin. Unfortunately for many men in Iran virginity in future wife is still quite important. So that rape will make her future life much more difficult than it would have been otherwise.
I have no problem with STONING rapists; particularly when they’re essentially acting “in loco parentis” as faculty members should.
Where is the outrage? Is this a Muslim thing? There were stories last week of a Palestinian mother who killed her daughter to save the “honour” of the men of her family. The girl had been raped by her slimy brothers and made pregnant. If she’s hell-bent on killing anyone, why doesn’t the Muslim mother kill the offending sons? Mind you: That is “SONS” plural.
While it’s obviously not “politically correct,” it’s pretty obvious that we’re dealing with very primitive and utterly amoral people here, who seem to be enthralled with torturing and throwing stones to kill people in one of the worst possible ways. mariana
