A Confession Show for Esfandiari, Tajbakhsh and Jahanbegloo

By Kamangir • Jul 16th, 2007 • Category: Human Rights, Iran, Islamic Republic

The Islamic Republic television has just aired short pieces of a program titled “In the name of democracy”. The program features “confessions” made by Haleh Esfandiari, Kian Tajbakhsh and Ramin Jahanbegloo. BBC Persian has captured the footage. Here, you can watch the version uploaded to Youtube.

The sentences are as follows,

Tajbakhsh: To attack the Islamic world.

[Title comes] In the Name of Democracy.

Jahanbegloo: In fact, Mrs. Esfandiari and Woodrow Wilson became a new organization to

Esfandiari: The body behind the colorful revolution [refers to the Rose Revolution of Georgia]

[Title comes] In the Name of Democracy.

Jahanbegloo: To make the people loose their interest in the administration [not exact translation].

Esfandiari: In the name of dialogue

Esfandiari: In the name of strengthening women

Esfandiari: In the name of democracy

Aside from all other aims, Esfandiari’s reference to “strengthening women”, given the recent stoning and the activities of the women rights’ groups, does make me worried.

  2. Some may not know this fact, that W. Wilson institute which Esfandiari has been involved has been against any kind of military option against Iran, they promoted dialogue with Iran’s mullahs and are against Bush’s administration. So, it’s very strange to have these people signled out as people who represented this government.

Perhaps it is not so suprising.
How many americans connected to, say, neo-cons think tanks are in Iran? Zero? So they probably did not have much choice.
Anyway, they probably promoted “dimokracy” and may have had wrong ideas about some stuff in Iran so, naturally, they must have been IRI enemies. And all enemies are spying, aren’t they? Furthermore “Woodrow Wilson Institute” sounds so, so……………..amerikan. ;-)
