Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader, visited Rouyan, the Iranian cloning research facility. If you think he felt anything immoral was going on you are wrong. He actually enjoyed looking into microscopes and using a mouse, I guess for the first time in his life. Then, he gave a rather repeated and boring speech in which he stated “The world must no more be divided into those who oppress [he meant the US] and those who accept the oppression”. Earlier, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi had called cloning “not creation of human beings or animals, as some exaggerate, but one of the mysteries of the world“. I guess the cloning scientists have succeeded in convincing the Ayatollahs that cloning is not about messing with Allah.

Of course the Grand Ayatollah doesn’t object to cloning. One must take drastic measures to increase the number of the *truly* faithful, after all.

If you get yourself cloned and your clone commits a crime like adultry, will you also be stoned?
Kamangir: That is one very good question!
