As mentioned before, the Islamic Republic had announced the development of a new computer game, in which the players will fight the US and Israel in Iraq and in Iran. For the full story of the game see here. The game was release today, bearing the fancy name “Special Operation 85″, probably referring to the previous Iranian year 1385. For a few snapshots of the game and the ceremony see here.

  5. There was a mini-doc on CBC last night about video games, they interviewed (at length) the dude who created “Special Forces”. He said it was his reaction to the popularity of first-person shooters in which Muslems are the target… I’d be interested in a review of one of these Hiz or Iranian first-shooters because from what I saw they were basically “Duck Hunt” with the Duck substituted for an Israeli or American. One interesting stat was the Special Forces game was a success in the Middle East because it had sold “100,000 copies.” I’m not sure if I’m surprised because the number seemed so low, possibly because of the general lack of computers among the target market, or because the number seemed high for the same reason.

Do you think there’ll ever be a Hiz version of Tetris as well? Or Sims?

Kamangir: I don’t think Jihadist Tetris would be any different, but Islamic Sims is definitely very different. :)
