“Islamic Values” vs. Pool of Water

multimedia_pics_1385_9_photo_1469.jpgmultimedia_pics_1385_9_photo_1470.jpgThe ultra-right website Rajanews was irritated after Iranians celeberated the achievements of an Iranian lady in an Asian contest (don’t ask me about the details because I am not a fan of sports). Rajanews asks “should we really be happy because of this?” Stating that “sometimes not following the accepted norms is the way to state novel ideas”, the website writes “it is the responsibility of the administration to do not sacrifice the dignity of Iranian Muslim woman for the sake of ‘national victory and a medal’ [emphasize from the website]“. The winner, Leila Ebrahimi (ليلا ابراهيمي), has a rather different story. “Whenever I fell in a pool, my outfit would absorb water and get heavy. I had no idea before the race that water pools would be a hassle for me, but they helped my rival to get ahead of me. We do believe in these conditions [which mean women have to wear cloths which cover them up], but I hope the outfits can be made from better material in the future”.
