Too Much Fire, Not Much Gas

The head of Tehran Firefighters announced that they only have gas till the end of the week. Reportedly, half their vehicles use petroleum but despite their huge responsibilities they have been assigned three liters of gas per day. This is after ambulances and also Police cars started to cut their activities for gas rationing. The cartoon combines the firefighters’ problem with the riots at the beginning of the rationing. In other news, gas is being smuggled into Iran from Russia and through Afghanistan. A short while ago, Afghanistan enjoyed cheap gas smuggled out of Iran.

What the hell the government of IRI is doing?!!! People do not have eanough of gas, ambulances do not have enough of gas, firefighters do not have enough of gas, police, for god’s sake, do not have enough of gas. And this is going on in a country which has one of the largest oil reserves in the world. This is ridiculous!

    Kamangir: Good point.

Further to above. I have a really bad feeling about it. It looks to me like IRI is preparing for something hoarding oil(just in case the refineries can’t function), cracking down on dissidents, leaders of students and national minorities, publishing more and more radical statements about west and USA, cracking down on some (more-or-less independent) newspapers. I have no comparison with how this things worked under, say Rafsanjani, but do you think it was similar or is it now worse?

Kamangir: They are definitely getting ready for the face-off. I have friends who think we will shortly witness big events. I don’t fully subscribe to that, because I do not have enough information, but, anyways, things are not in good shapes at all.
