Akbar Ganji, the respectable political activist who spent over five years behind the bars, has written an open letter to Iranians asking for their help to release the imprisoned Iranian students from prisons. Remembering his days in solitary confinement and reminding everyone of the crimes the Islamic Republic has committed under the name of holiness, he writes “women rights’ groups and labor syndicates receive support from abroad because there are related organizations everywhere. Students, on the other hand, do not have a counterpart in the West and are more vulnerable.”

Kamangir: I think he is in Europe now. He is a respectable person but I guess he could have been a bit more radical.

Kamangir, I don’t doubt that he is respectable, but shouldn’t he be the ONE leading the protest, the way he did for his own case.. He must show more with his actions supporting the freedom fighters in Iran. HE is the one to do it, because he has the name recognition.
p.s/ sorry for double posting.

Akbar Ganji is a compromised figure. He worked from within the system and agreed with it until the system came for him. Don’t expect too much from Ganji, he may have name recognition but he is not a genuine opponent of the Islamic Republic.
