Misery, Four Years after the Devastating Earthquake
By Kamangir • Aug 15th, 2007 • Category: Children, Human Rights, Iran, Islamic Republic, WomenOn December 2003, early in the morning, a 6.6-Richter earthquake destroyed Bam, a historic city in Kerman province. Four years after the devastation, survivors still have to struggle with harsh conditions. Baztab has recently published a set of pictures (one, two) which show the horrible living conditions for those who survived the quake. This is happening in a country which has huge resources of oil and spends millions of dollars helping groups, terrorist and other, in Palestine, Lebanon and elsewhere. To see more pictures please take a look at the photoblog.

Thank you for this post. It is so heart-breaking.
Meanwhile, Islamic republic, endangering and against Iranian people’s future and long-term interest,in its attempt to hold on to power at any cost, keeps pushing for global Jihad to fulfill Khomeini’s manifest destiny of ‘one world under Islam’; it continues to use old time tactics of buying loyalties of mercenaries and foreign legions with the oil revenues that belong to the Iranian people.
The Islamic Republic spends [(squanders oil revenues on perceived (NOT REAL loyalty)] money lavishly, handing out cash and building hospitals, roads, bridges, and schools for southern Lebanese Hizballah.IRI has rebuilt 200 schools, 150 places of worship (mosques), 30 clinics and 25 bridges. The official budget for this year is about £60 million (US120 million).
Meanwhile, Iran’s economy on the verge of disastrous collapse and the government places inflation rates at 12-13 percent but according to Iran’s Parliament Research Center the figure is actually closer to 20 percent.
Unemployment is at its all time high and many workers are out of jobs. More than 11 million live in extreme poverty and close to 40% live below poverty line (est. 2002). And the GDP of less than $8000 and Income Per ca pita of less than $3000 justifies ‘assissting muslim brethern’ in the name ummah at the expense of Iran and Iranians.

Kaman: Do you know of a trustworthy organization that you can donate money to for the survivors of the Bam Earthquake?
Kamangir: Unfortunately, no.
There is a saying that if you want to control Iranians “keep them hungry” and if you want to control the Arabs “feed them and fill them up”. The Islamic Republic has perfected this art.
Unfortunately million inside and outside of Iran doubt that their beloved nation is in the dark ages and they need to stand up and do something about it. They are millions who think Khomenie is an Imam, Khamenie is the Supreme Leader and…every year they should wear black and beat themselves with chains because an Arab was killed by another Arab in Karbila (this is their religion). With this mentality who cares for the thousands of our Hamvatans who died in Bam?
Have you seen an Arab beat himself up for any Iranian, or learn Farsi to read one of our poets or Iranian books? Have they build a school or hospital for us? Have they?
Four years is a long time. Long enough to give these people better living conditions, rebuild their city altogether even.
This is negligence. This is criminal. How can a government that claims to care for its countrymen leave matters like this?
btw, ive added a link to you.
How can a government that claims to care for its countrymen leave matters like this?
I.R. government defines “countrymen” just a bit different than much of rest of the world: people who support its tenets or serve its politics regardless of their nationality. It can define it so wide to include Hugo Chavez, and Hamas, as well as the godless Fidel.
Serendip, USAID and Catholic Charities in the US both assisted with medical care for victims, cleanup and some early rebuilding efforts before being asked to leave. You might want to check with the Red Crescent.
