Hasan Haddad, security deputy of the the Prosecuting Attorney of Tehran, stated, “The 209 section in the Evin Prison is one of the best detention centers in the world and many prisoners dream about being transferred to this section”. The name 209 is the reminder of bitter memories for all political activists in Iran, because many of them have been kept, and tortured, in that building. Now, if Hadad’s sentence was not enough for you to think something is really wrong with this man, it might help to know that when asked about the news of one of the 209 detainees being in hunger strike, he replied “He is now under interrogation. How can you be starving and also respond to questions?” [Persian]
