Bribing Allah through Khomeini

A big fraction of the economical power of the Islamic groups in Iran comes from the money people throw in the numerous shrines, as oblation. These pictures show the shrine of Khomeini, whom is called the 13th Imam in a famous Persian joke. This, many Muslims believe, is pure idolatry.

The Cage

Kamangir | August 20, 2007 | Category Human Rights, Iran, Islamic Republic

Do you remember all the keeping Iranians in cages during Ahmadinejad’s speeches here and there?

Apparently, Iranians are wrecking the cages. At least they did it in Ahmadinejad’s latest visit to Isfahan. These pictures, published by “The Last Tench” [Persian], show the pipes used for separating men and women.

I am wondering when Iranians will tear apart the ultimate cage, the Islamic Republic.

Breaking News: Execution despite Controversy

Kamangir | August 20, 2007 | Category Human Rights, Iran, Islamic Republic

arton410.jpgMahmoud Moghimi (محمود مقيمي) and the brothers Mohammad and Davood Sharei (محمد شارعي Ùˆ داود شارعي) were executed in Saveh, Iran,  despite the controversy surrounding their case. The execution was announced for Monday, but was carried out a day earlier, disrupting their lawyer’s efforts in proceeding with legal actions to stop it. Jahani, the defense lawyer of the executed individuals stated “if they had not executed them before noon, we had gotten the cancellation verdict…Apparently, the judge wanted to take the credit of the first execution in Saveh at the middle of all the talk about thugs, and he did it”. The three youths had been arrested last year, for charges of assault and rape. They had rejected all charges during the whole process, except for the confessios they made to the Police. Afterwards, they stated that they had been tortured by the Police. It is a general belief that if the Police wants you to say something, you will say that.

500 locals had signed a letter emphasizing the fact that the three were morally decent persons. The letter was to be sent to the Judiciary, when the news about the execution broke out. The executed individuals did not have criminal record.
