Maradona, Chavez, and “I hate American Sutff”
By Kamangir • Aug 21st, 2007 • Category: Humour, Iran, Islamic Republic
It is no mystery that the Islamic Republic is in love with Hugo Chavez. It is no mystery either that many Iranian fans of football love Maradona. Now, when Maradona attends a show whose host is no one but “Brother” Chavez, Fars News will delightfully quote Maradona saying “I totaly hate American goods. I reject any American thing“, because he would then emphasize how much he supports Chavez and Castro [Fars News, Guardian Unlimited]. Hence, they kindly forget the fact that Maradona also does stuff for which people are arrested in Iran, including doing drugs and most probably drinking. When it comes to the common enemy, everyone can be a friend.

Nice. And of course, the new el-presidente’s bid for changing the constitution, thus allowing him to become el-presidente for life, must appeal to the IRI. It means stable allies, after all.
No kidding about that last sentence! I really didn’t need anything else to convince me of the rottenness of the Venezuela-Iran love-in, but this iakes the cake. The Hand of God meets the Alliance for Justice.
