For Sale: Rocket Science and How to Recite Quran
Kamangir | August 25, 2007 | Category Humour, Iran, Islamic Republic
In a meeting with the elite youth, Ahmadinejad stated “We can teach the world newer methods in different fields, from how to recite Quran to rocket science” [Persian]. Any bid?

The most recent version of Michael Sells’ book, Approaching the Qur’an, as a number of Sura recited in what he calls the ‘American’ style of recitation. The recitation is based on classical modes from Western music–dorian, phrygian, mixolydian, aeolian, locrian, ionian, lydian–instead of classical modes from Eastern music. It’s worth a listen, the woman who recites has a beautiful voice.

Also, last month’s issue of Newsweek had a special report on Islam in America and cites a hadith (which I have never heard before) which says that Islam will be revived from the West.
So as for rocket science or Qur’anic science is concerned, I think it’s fair to say that AJ is behind the curve.
I have no interest in the Koran or rocket science.
Kamangir: Neither do I.
I’d really like to hear the Qur’an recitation but I can’t find it on the linked page! Could you give a direct link to the audio file or point it out for me? Thanks. And RoxieAmerica - no interest in Koran or Rockets? Good. Either have no interest, or an interest in just one. Being interested in both might get you in a bit of trouble!
Vpendse,
I’m looking all over for a place on the web where you can here this Qari, I don’t know her name but will check the CD my book came with to see what I can find.
