Ahmadinejad: Do not come to the Airport, go to Mosques and thank Allah for this Glory!
Kamangir | September 28, 2007 | Category Humour, Iran, Islamic Republic
This is just published in president.ir [Persian], the official website of the President of the Islamic Republic.
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Epic, thoughtful, and holy presence of the president of Iran in the UN and the different speeches he gave in New York caused a wave of delight and pure emotions in the loyal and religious people of Iran and the lovers of the Islamic Republic in the world.
We were just informed that … [different groups of people] have invited the nation to come to the airport [when Ahmadinejad's flight lands]. The president said, while recognizing people’s concerns, that the nation should attend mosques to thank Allah for this glorious victory.

A “Retard” Missile
Kamangir | September 27, 2007 | Category Humour, Iran, Islamic Republic
For the anniversary of the “Holy Defense”, the start of war with Iraq, among other activities, street exhibitions of Islamic Republic’s military might were held in different cities. This picture shows a missile, apparently called “Retard”. More pictures in the photoblog.
International Hand-Kissing
Kamangir | September 27, 2007 | Category Iran, Islam, Islamic Republic

Sorry guys, as long as they are going to do this hand-kissing, I am willing to reiterate that I think this is silly. This one sort of happens in an international framework, because the person whose hand is kissed is Rafsanjani of Iran and the kisser is a Quran reciter from some other country, probably Egypt.
Politics of Drunk Driving
Kamangir | September 26, 2007 | Category Humour, Iran, Islamic Republic
This is the exact translation of a piece in the state-run news agency Fars News [Persian],
The actor of the anti-Iran serial, 24, arrested
Keifer Sutherland, an actor in the American anti-Iran serial, 24, was arrested for driving under influence. Sutherland, who played the role of a secret agent, … had been arrested a while ago for the same reason.
Islamic Republic Just doesn’t get It

“Shock in New York, Iran’s Logic Glares”, The state-run Kayhan’s front page.
If you think Ahmadinejad was embarrassed at all for what happened to him in Columbia University, I have to say, you are very optimistic about this man and this regime.
The state-run newspaper, Kayhan, carried the large title “Shock in New York, Iran’s Logic Glares”. There was also a “reader’s comment” in the newspaper which read “Please draw a cartoon of the CBS reporter, before and after his interview with Dr Ahmadinejad, for the world to see how embarrassed he was. We, youth, are proud of Ahmadinejad.” Many strongly believe that many of the “readers’ comments” in Kayhan do not come from any place but the same building Kayhan is printed in.
The official news agency of the regime wrote [Persian],
Strong, scientific and accurate answers of the President of Iran to the questions raised by the academicians in Columbia University made them applause and showed that they are not affected by the propaganda of the American Media. They officially asserted in a poll that they agreed with Ahmadinejad’s statements. The American televisions, which thought tricky questions will surprise the president, showed the program live. These sources, some of which are controlled by the Zionists, were shocked after the results of the poll came out.
According to the poll, the majority of the participants agreed that Columbia’s invitation of Ahmadinejad was a good decision…. Many Americans called the network to emphasize on the importance of freedom of speech in America…
A few people, some of whom were connected to the Zionists, protested against Ahmadinejad’s speech, but the poll showed that these were only a minority in the American society.
Then, a website close to the administration published “public opinion mentioned in an American website” about Ahmadinejad’s speech. Apparently, the website, which is probably Digg, held comments such as [Persian],
Such a great interview! Ahmadinejad proved that he is an intelligent speaker. It is amazing what effect propaganda has on people.
And these are only a few examples of how the regime celeberated this “victory”.
Not everyone was so happy, though. Twenty Five MPs blamed the Minister of Foreign Affairs for “silly, uncommon and immoral statements of the Columbia University President against Ahmadinejad [Persian]“. Furthermore, Amin, a former reformist MP, asked “how much valuable was it to speak in Columbia, that Ahmadinejad paid such a high price for it?” [Persian].
A Prophet Needed
Kamangir | September 26, 2007 | Category Human Rights, Iran, Islam, Islamic Republic
In a press conference, after his speech in the UN, Ahmadinejad was asked why although the Islamic Republic claims to support religion, they do not support Bahai’is. Ahmadinejad responded “The Jews’ prophet is Moses, Christians have Jesus, and Muslims have Muhammad. Tell me who is the prophet of the religion you are talking about and when he has arrived” [Persian].
I guess that’s why agnosticism is not tolerated in Iran.
“What you see and what you don’t see, in the Holy City”
Kamangir | September 26, 2007 | Category Human Rights, Iran, Islam, Islamic Republic
In a Persian post, the Iranian blogger Harfehesab [Persian], looks at the Google search trends in the holy city of Qom, for sex-related terms. Choosing the title “what you see and what you don’t see, in the Holy City”, the blogger writes [Persian],
Qom is the capital city of Shia Islam and the religious capital city of Iran. The city’s Jamkaran Mosque has recently become the spot to submit letters to Mehdi [the Islamic Messiah] and where the government gets its religious backing [not exact translation]. Therefore, the administration pushes very hard to present the city in a holy and Islamic way. However, a close look at the Internet activity of the city reveals that something else is going on in the city.
Is it only a coincidence that the search for sex-related terms in Qom is the highest amongst all Iranian cities? How long are we willing to suppress the instincts, by postponing them to the heaven, and make people’s life like hell?
The blogger then gives a list of ten sex-related terms and shows how Google Trends reveals that Qom is the first location where these terms are looked up in Google. He makes another interesting observation as well,
Interestingly, Tehran is not even in the list of the ten first cities for nine of these terms.
He relates this phenomenon to the existence of more social freedom in Tehran.
The Tale of Two Prophets
Kamangir | September 26, 2007 | Category Iran, Islamic Republic
![]()
Is it just me that finds a similarity between yesterdays big events, namely Warren Jeffs‘ conviction and Ahmadinejad’s speech? Well, this sounds to me like a prophet speaking to a crowd (source),
The only sustainable way to the betterment of mankind, is the return to the teachings of divine prophets, monotheism, respect for the dignity of humans and the flow of love and affections in all relationships, ties and regulations. Then the structures should be reformed based on these. To fulfill this objective, I invite everybody to line up a front of fraternity, amity and sustainable peaces based on monotheism and justice under the name of “Coalition for Peace” to prevent incursions and arrogance and propagate the culture of affection and justice. I hereby announce that with the help of all independent, justice-seeking and peace-loving nations, the Islamic republic of Iran will be treading on this path. Monotheism, Justice and love for humans should dominate all the pillars of the UN and this organization has to be a reference for justice and every member of it has to enjoy equal spiritual and legal support.
When will this prophet be arrested by the Iranians?

Popular Ahmadinejad Critic Website Closed Off
Kamangir | September 23, 2007 | Category Human Rights, Iran, Islamic Republic
Following a complaint filed by the government of Ahmadinejad against the opponent website Baztab, its office was sealed off by the Judiciary [Persian]. A newspaper close to Ahmadinejad writes, “Rezaei, the owner of Baztab, when failed in finding a job in the government, turned into an unjust and offensive critic [Persian].” In its last post, Baztab asserts that the ban has been the result of a seven-month pressure by the government [Persian].
To know how popular Baztab was, it is enough to compare it with the leading state-run news agency Farsnews and the national television (Alexa). Note that while Baztab is filtered in Iran, the two others are conveniently reachable. Many of the drops in the popularity of Baztab coincide with previous bans on the website.

It is quite hillarious to remember Ahmadinejad’s claim that “Complete freedom exists in Iran and all individuals and groups can express their ideas [Persian]“.
Solid Proof that Israelis are Paranoid
Kamangir | September 23, 2007 | Category Humour, Iran, Islamic Republic, Israel

This is mainly for the attention of people like Roman Kalik who deceive us all into thinking that the Islamic Republic wants to harm Israel in any way. Look at this picture (source). This is solid proof that what Ahmadinejad wants to be annihilated is “Esrail”, and not Israel. To the best information of Google, there exists no such thing as Esrail. So, I demand all you Ahmadinejad-haters, including myself of course, to stop spreading irrelevant accusations.
p.s. Ahmadinejad does hate the US, though,
Girls Gone Wild, Iranian Style
Kamangir | September 23, 2007 | Category Human Rights, Iran, Islam, Islamic Republic
Apparently, three girls bet that they can take off the Islamic dress in a public place and wear normal clothes. They do it on Friday in Laleh Park, at the heart of Tehran, in a corner where not many people would pass. Nevertheless, they fulfill the bet. I’m wondering how much the bid has been. See more pictures in the photoblog.
Big Military Show in Iran
Kamangir | September 23, 2007 | Category Iran, Islamic Republic, War
As every year, many cities in Iran were the scene of the biggest military show of the year. This event is the remembrance of the anniversary of the “Holy Defense”, the fancy name the Islamic Republic has given to the eight-year war which was started by slowing down Saddam’s military machine, continued with pushing it back, and ended up when the Islamic Republic had in fact occupied parts of Iraq. More pictures in the photoblog.
Tribute (More Pictures Added)
Kamangir | September 23, 2007 | Category Iran, Islamic Republic, War
Twenty Seven years ago these days, the Iraqi army invaded Iran. For the next eight years, the long border between the two countries, both of were ironically Shia Muslim, was the scene of shooting, bombarding and artillery fire. Behind the scene was all filthy politics, including Khomeini’s ambitious sentence “War is a good thing” and the infamous Islamic Republic slogan”We reach Palestine through Iraq” [not exact translation]. However, on the front, ordinary Iranians inhaled chemical gases, which would gradually kill them in the next ten years, and Iraqi “infidels” were shot dead by the “army of Allah”. The war was irritatingly mixed with religious and nationalistic concepts, on both sides.
This is a tribute to those who defended their mother land, against people just like themselves, with the same stupid reasons for fighting. More pictures in the photoblog.
Source of Ahmadinejad’s Popularity
Kamangir | September 21, 2007 | Category Iran, Islamic Republic
Ever wondered why some Iranians still love Ahmadinejad, and are even ready to be killed for him? See this picture, and others posted in the photoblog. He gives the people the feeling that he is one of them. That’s what the poor and deprived have been waiting for, for a very long time.
The Sharia-Approved Clothing for a Lady Pilot
Kamangir | September 21, 2007 | Category Humour, Iran, Islamic Republic
You have seen enough bizarre things from the Islamic Republic, but this one is unique. This piece has been aired in the national television. Apparently, the lady pilot boards the fighter with her Chador, long toe-to-head cover, on. A user in the Iranian Digg, Balatarin, suggests, “She can use it in emergencies. You know, as a parachute”.

Catching the Islamic Republic Liars
Kamangir | September 20, 2007 | Category Iran, Islamic Republic
“This is the next generation of fighter-bombers”, stated the Minister of Defense while referring to the new aircraft Saeqeh, which the Islamic Republic claims they have developed [Persian]. The name of the new plane, Saeqeh (Thunderbolt), inspired the editors in the newspaper of the government, Iran, to use the big title “Iranian Thunderbolt at Zionists”.
What is missing in this “big achievement”? The fact that when the website of the national television first carried the news, they showed a plane which had the emblem of the Pahlavi Dynasty on it. This has made many guessing that this plane is not really designed by the Islamic Republic, but that it is rather an old plan which has been worked on since the late Shah of Iran. Of course they have changed the page now and it shows another picture [Persian]. An Iranian blogger managed to capture the original page.
Screen shot from the state-run television’s website. The picture down here shows the magnified version of the emblem on the tail of the plane. Click to enlarge.
Left: Emblem on the side of the plane “built by the Islamic Republic”, Right: The Lion and Sword emblem of Pahlavi Dinasty
See more pictures of the plane here. A helicopter and four unmanned airplanes are stated to be the next steps in the Islamic Republic’s technological quest [Persian].
