Nuclear Soap Opera
Kamangir | September 7, 2007 | Category Iran, Islamic Republic
Following the nuclear computer game, the state-run national television announced the start of the production of Fattaneh, a soap opera which is about events happening surrounding Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. Interestingly, the opening ceremony was held in the National Nuclear Energy Institute, whose Public Relations Head stated “We have to start spreading the nuclear culture for the people to know what the nuclear technology is and what effects it has in their lives”. Reportedly, before this one, the movie Circuit 21 has been produced by the state. The new show, which will consist of 20 parts, each 45 minutes, will be shot in Tehran, Isfahan, Dubai and Ukraine during five months of production [Persian].

I wonder if they will show what happened in Czernobyl, in Ukraine. I am pretty sure that after seeing that Iranians might get somewhat wary of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. It needs just couple of wrong decisions, a stupid mistake or outdated equipment to change some part of Iran into “NO GO Zone”
Ella, you make substantive points, but “mistakes” are the least of Iran’s problem. If they develop wmd’s, they have vowed to use them immediately against Israel. Teheran, and perhaps all of Iran will subsequently become a glass parking lot. The word “stupid” hardly describes the disaster they are inviting, and would certainly deserve.

I think not.
I think that although IRI government is quite fundamentalist and spoke many times about ending Israel as a state, it will not use nuclear weapons against it. I think it will continue to support terrorist movements in the ME and use nuclear armaments as an “argument” (read: blackmail) in its policy. I am not sure if the hints from Iran about their nuclear weapons will not work better for IRI aims than actual attack on Israel.
On the other hand IRI may use the bombs………………..
