Goodbye to Youtube

pornyoutube.pngAbout a month ago, I blogged in Persian about the rising epidemic of Iranian porn clips taken by camera-equipped cellphones. For that aim, I made a short movie to support my argument that it is becoming a trend for Iranian men to fool their partners into taking their pictures during sex. These clips then find their way to the Internet. In the movie, I included samples from several porn clips, all badly censored for the sake of morality. Shortly after I uploaded the video on Youtube, and after it was viewed for over 5,000 times in a few days, Youtube removed it.

That time, I thought to myself, well, this is still pornographic, if not explicit, it does carry pornography. I ended up uploading it on Tinypic, where it has been hosted since. Today, however, I received an email from Youtube that my other video, “Police Brutality in Iran”, is also removed and that “This is the second video removal notice for your account. if you receive one more, your account will be permanently disabled and all of your previously uploaded videos will be taken down”.

Well, Youtube guys, I am not going to upload any video there any more. At the end of the day, you are a part of the same company which made a deal with the Chinese government to censor search results.

Send them an email, asking for a clarification about the second video. It’s probably futile, but worth a shot.
