Kaman: it doesn’t really mean anything. Have you seen some of the photos when the late Shah used to meet the poor areas around the country? They used to kiss his feet and he practically had to get them off of his feet.

You could easily find similar photos of Hitler and Saddam. People respond to fame.

There are rumors that President of Argentina is going talk about the AMIA 1994 bombing at the UN. The bombing of a Buenous Aires Jewish center killed 85 and wounded around 200 people.

“PRAGUE, October 26, 2006 (RFE/RL) — Argentinian prosecutors have formally charged Iran’s ex-President Ali-Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani and several other former officials over the 1994 bombing of a Jewish center in Buenos Aires. The 1994 explosion devastated the Argentinian Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA), killing dozens and injuring many others.

Argentinian chief prosecutor Alberto Nisman alleged at a news conference on October 25 that while the bombing was carried out by the Lebanese Hizballah, the decision to attack the Jewish center was made in Iran.

“We have proven that the decision for the July 18, 1994, attack against AMIA that caused 85 deaths and wounded at least 151 was a decision taken by high-ranking authorities of Iran’s government at that time,” Nisman said. “These authorities ordered the Lebanese Shi’ite organization Hizballah to carry out this attack. It is known that this organization [Hizballah] is, from all points of view, a sub-organization of the regime in Tehran.”

Prosecutors also asked the judge to detain other senior Iranians, including former Intelligence Minister Ali Fallahian and ex-Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Velayati.

They are also seeking two former commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), two former Iranian diplomats, and a former Hizballah security chief for their alleged roles in the killings.”

Iran warns Argentina ahead of Kirchner UN speech

    Carlos
Not everyone knows your beautiful language, I, for one, do not :-(
But I got a rough translation thanks to a commenter on another blog. The following is a fragment of the article you linked to.
The decision of the Government [of Argentina] to take the question of the AMIA to the UN has put Argentina on the threshold of the escalation with Iran. The person in charge of the business of the Iranian Embassy in Buenos Aires and representing the regime in Argentina, Mohsen Baharvand, advised that if President Néstor Kirchner blames Iran before the United Nations, “many countries will understand that Argentina is in favor of the war”.
    …………
Baharvand denied that his country is refusing to cooperate in the investigation of the attack. “I never heard that the Argentine Government said that we did not cooperate. I have sent data officially to the Argentine Chancellery, and, if it wishes, we can verify that. Now, if we cooperated and it says that we did not do it, what is the sense of our cooperating?”

Argentine Justices considers that Iran has not lent cooperation in the cause. Iran appealed a decision of Interpol of last March, it objects to the propriety of the arrest warrants for five civil employees - according to Tehran - of the Iranian government for their responsibility in the attack. Justice hopes that in a meeting of Interpol in Morocco, in November, Interpol ratifies that [arrest] order.

“What can happen if Interpol confirms the orders? Nothing. It is not going to pass nothing,” Mohsen Baharvand said. “Argentina has overestimated the worth of paper of that organization [Interpol], the importance it has”, he added.

The diplomat disqualified the investigation of the designated special public prosecutor in the case, Alberto Nisman, and demanded a just process. “We do not want speculations, rumors of the press, or policy. This is not the case of Nora Dalmasso, it is a subject between two countries that must be resolve with much care”.

Baharvand, in addition, accused the main organizations of the Argentine Jewish community, the DAIA and the AMIA, of being uninformed [ignorant of all the facts?] and mounting a “nonofficial diplomacy” that has harmed the bilateral relations [of Argentina and Iran].

“This demand which they are making of the Government does not come from the Argentine town [meaning the Argentine people]. There are two small organizations who make nonofficial diplomacy against Iran by means of blackmail. International relations are now very delicate. Argentina is a favored country, but they can drag it towards a mistaken place.”

Nothing will ever come of the attempts to seek justice for the victims of the Buenos Aires bombings. It’s been over a decade, any mentions of this act of terrorism in todays news is simply part of the media war on Iranian interests.

I wonder how often these old women smile.

Al-kinid: It might not be news to you given your background (read death cult) where death is valued more than life but to others it is still fresh and will stay that way till justice is done. Remember Fugimori, he was extradited back to Peru from Chile to face human rights abuses and corruption charges after 15 years.

And I’m sure Roman Kalik and Ella can tell you about Nazi hunters to this date who are still looking for them…

Indeed. Thirteen years is a very short time. Very, very short.

    Thanks Ella.Good translation.
Before the AMIA bombing, was a first terrorist attack here against the israeli embassy in march 1992.This first one made the steps for the second one.The terrorist cell may came from the Tri-Border-Area where the Argentina,Brazil and Paraguay borders converge.Hizballah activity and others groups like HAMAS are located there for years.Just now the investigation for the first attack remains unsolved.

  12. Al-Kindi |

Well I do not agree with you, but I don’t appreciate you referring to Islam as a “death cult”. These are just my views, get over my religious beliefs already.

  13. Carlos |

I never referr to Islam as a “death cult”.This is offensive including for some of my friends.

  14. Al-Kindi |

That comment was directed to “Serendip” (Al-kinid: It might not be news to you given your background (read death cult))

  15. Carlos |

Ok,but it’s good to made this aclaration because some think that it is my thogths on Islam. The problem is the people who are using Islam to spread terrorism. We need a very serious debate forum in this concern.
