Transcript of Ahmadinejad at Columbia

A very interesting read, Mattew, thanks for the link. AJ made a grand total of two mistakes, by the way, and two alone. One was when he said that Iran has no homosexuals, another when he mentioned the “Nile to the Ephrates” conspiracy theory. The first was a major mistake, as it would make the leftists in the crowd think again about how great AJ is.
The second would chafe to only those who have a brain in the first place.
He’s an expert manipulator, though, and his answers were expertly evasive and tailor-made to turn a defensive into a “revolutionary” offensive. If I didn’t detest the man so much, I’d applaud him. He’s a very smart guy.
A pity he doesn’t have an ounce of wisdom. Or basic humanity.
You’re right about the gays gaffe, there’s even a CBC in depth report on the subject, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnzL4nQ3CDU
This is what he said about women:
“But as for women, maybe you think that maybe being a woman is a crime. It’s not a crime to be a woman. Women are the best creatures created by God. They represent the kindness, the beauty that God instills in them. Women are respected in Iran.â€
Does he secretly believe that being a woman in Iran is a crime?
Iran’s anti-gay program:

Found this report from Pajamas Media interesting as well…
Mahmoud’s Manhattan Moment.
1) VOA Television nightly services on HotBird and TeleStar 12 satellites were disrupted in Tehran for about 20 minutes, as soon as he was to be introduced at Colombia university’s podium. Iranian citizens did not hear the criticism of Ahmadinejad by Columbia President Bollinger. The way the Islamic Republic does this is to scramble the signals of these satellites locally, using stationary and mobile microwave dishes.
2) It has been rumored from iside Iran that one of the conditions for Iranian-Aermican Haleh Esfandiari’s release from Evin Prison was for Ahmadinejad to give his speech at Colombia University and to visit to Ground Zero. Ahmadinejad’s speech at Colombia was canceled last year.
