Islamic Republic Just doesn’t get It

“Shock in New York, Iran’s Logic Glares”, The state-run Kayhan’s front page.

If you think Ahmadinejad was embarrassed at all for what happened to him in Columbia University, I have to say, you are very optimistic about this man and this regime.

The state-run newspaper, Kayhan, carried the large title “Shock in New York, Iran’s Logic Glares”. There was also a “reader’s comment” in the newspaper which read “Please draw a cartoon of the CBS reporter, before and after his interview with Dr Ahmadinejad, for the world to see how embarrassed he was. We, youth, are proud of Ahmadinejad.” Many strongly believe that many of the “readers’ comments” in Kayhan do not come from any place but the same building Kayhan is printed in.

The official news agency of the regime wrote [Persian],

Strong, scientific and accurate answers of the President of Iran to the questions raised by the academicians in Columbia University made them applause and showed that they are not affected by the propaganda of the American Media. They officially asserted in a poll that they agreed with Ahmadinejad’s statements. The American televisions, which thought tricky questions will surprise the president, showed the program live. These sources, some of which are controlled by the Zionists, were shocked after the results of the poll came out.

According to the poll, the majority of the participants agreed that Columbia’s invitation of Ahmadinejad was a good decision…. Many Americans called the network to emphasize on the importance of freedom of speech in America…

A few people, some of whom were connected to the Zionists, protested against Ahmadinejad’s speech, but the poll showed that these were only a minority in the American society.

Then, a website close to the administration published “public opinion mentioned in an American website” about Ahmadinejad’s speech. Apparently, the website, which is probably Digg, held comments such as [Persian],

Such a great interview! Ahmadinejad proved that he is an intelligent speaker. It is amazing what effect propaganda has on people.

And these are only a few examples of how the regime celeberated this “victory”.

Not everyone was so happy, though. Twenty Five MPs blamed the Minister of Foreign Affairs for “silly, uncommon and immoral statements of the Columbia University President against Ahmadinejad [Persian]“. Furthermore, Amin, a former reformist MP, asked “how much valuable was it to speak in Columbia, that Ahmadinejad paid such a high price for it?” [Persian].

Like any politician - Ahmadinejad and his handlers would have somehow shown his performance as a success, regardless.

And like any other politician - he did not give straight answers to most questions, either on 60 Minutes or at Columbia. Every question was easy for him to anticipate.

I don’t like the guy, but you have to admit, his remarks about homosexuals was pretty funny!

It was not funny. It shows the fight ahead for the liberal agenda, and how difficult it will be to obtain progress and change.

It is more than propaganda. It is a surreal. I’m afraid they truly believe their own lies. The system lives in a alternate universe of their own, which is so far from reality; it is scary and dangerous.

    Oh America, You Zionist Patsies…

What did you expect from the “free and unbiased” Persian media?

I agree with MiM, Ahmadinejad’s remark wasn’t funny in the slightest. It reflects a policy of persecution and death.

My point about his homosexual remarks being funny was because I thought he made them in jest. It doesn’t seem possible that the leader of a country, or anyone for that matter, would believe such a statement.

I apologize if I offended anyone.

It’s alright, Robby… But you have to realize that he was dead serious. This is simply what he believes. Ahmadinejad is not a nice person.

Sadly, it will be several decades before much change in terms of liberalism will occur in the IRI, it seems.

    Robby,

If you think Ahmadinejad and audience were talking to each other you are wrong.

Ahmadinejad won the moment he got permission to get on CU podium.

Rest does not matter in his neck of the wood.

He got chance to face his enemies and carried it out with honor.

This CU President (forgot his name) made it even more of a victory for A-d with his stupid introduction.

    This is what really happen.

    Leo:

I agree, he was talking to his constituents, that’s what politicians do.

His “double speak” about never attacking another country, but then calling Israel the “Zionist Entity” (i.e. Israel is NOT a country) is Clinton-esq.

He was in a win-win situation regardless of whether he was allowed to speak or not. Had the talk been canceled his handlers and the Iranian press (which may be the same people, I don’t know) would have declared America was scared to have him speak.

I am not a fan, in fact I despise the Iranian President. Had I done the introduction it would not have been filled with such predictable question/comments that was so easily able to prepare for. That being said, it’s doubtful he is will ever truly an answer some questions.

I agree with only with your statement about Bollinger being stupid. His introductory remarks were not very stupid, but inviting Ahmadinejad to CU was.
Bollinger is also on record saying that he would have invited Hitler to CU. For discussion, he said.
As for his questions, after that introduction I did expect something more to the point. It seems Bollinger did not do his homework.

I imagine his “discussion” with Hitler on September 1939.
Q: Mr. Hitler why did you attacked Poland?
A: As you know Poles viciously attacked our border guards, they hate Germans. We have to protect many germans living in Poland from the Polish attrocities. When we secure safety for Germans in Poland our Army will leave Poland. Even Russians agree with us.
    *applause from students*
Q Mr Hitler we heard the rumors of sending Jews to concentration camps
A: Sir, this is not truth. That’s the jewish propaganda. They own majority of papers in USA, and you can not believe all stories MSM say.
*prolonged applause from CU students, scattered shouts of “Heil Hitler” *
And comments - During the discussion with Mr Bollinger Mr. Hitler behaved with honor………..
