“Shock in New York, Iran’s Logic Glares”, The state-run Kayhan’s front page.

If you think Ahmadinejad was embarrassed at all for what happened to him in Columbia University, I have to say, you are very optimistic about this man and this regime.

The state-run newspaper, Kayhan, carried the large title “Shock in New York, Iran’s Logic Glares”. There was also a “reader’s comment” in the newspaper which read “Please draw a cartoon of the CBS reporter, before and after his interview with Dr Ahmadinejad, for the world to see how embarrassed he was. We, youth, are proud of Ahmadinejad.” Many strongly believe that many of the “readers’ comments” in Kayhan do not come from any place but the same building Kayhan is printed in.

The official news agency of the regime wrote [Persian],

Strong, scientific and accurate answers of the President of Iran to the questions raised by the academicians in Columbia University made them applause and showed that they are not affected by the propaganda of the American Media. They officially asserted in a poll that they agreed with Ahmadinejad’s statements. The American televisions, which thought tricky questions will surprise the president, showed the program live. These sources, some of which are controlled by the Zionists, were shocked after the results of the poll came out.

According to the poll, the majority of the participants agreed that Columbia’s invitation of Ahmadinejad was a good decision…. Many Americans called the network to emphasize on the importance of freedom of speech in America…

A few people, some of whom were connected to the Zionists, protested against Ahmadinejad’s speech, but the poll showed that these were only a minority in the American society.

Then, a website close to the administration published “public opinion mentioned in an American website” about Ahmadinejad’s speech. Apparently, the website, which is probably Digg, held comments such as [Persian],

Such a great interview! Ahmadinejad proved that he is an intelligent speaker. It is amazing what effect propaganda has on people.

And these are only a few examples of how the regime celeberated this “victory”.

Not everyone was so happy, though. Twenty Five MPs blamed the Minister of Foreign Affairs for “silly, uncommon and immoral statements of the Columbia University President against Ahmadinejad [Persian]“. Furthermore, Amin, a former reformist MP, asked “how much valuable was it to speak in Columbia, that Ahmadinejad paid such a high price for it?” [Persian].
