Retirement

Filed under: Personal — Kamangir @ 10:19 pm

128px-feed-iconsvg.pngIn the last couple of months, my most creative time has been spent here, and I don’t feel bad about that at all. However, the fact is, I am a student and a researcher and there are other things which I am very good at. I will leave the job of causing awareness about the horrible things which go on in Iran to those who can do it the best, because they hold a degree in politics for example, as opposed to my degrees which are all in engineering. Therefore, I will spend most of the time I used to spend here on having quality time with my lovely wife and on my research and on reading books about what I used to write about here.

Take this, these days I am reading the fantastic book “Taliban” by “Ahmed Rashid”.

Any way, this means that this page will not be updated as frequently, hopefully. But that does not mean that I have any intention of loosing the good friends who helped me, and others, learn new things by their comments. Please keep coming here. I strongly suggest subscribing to Kamangir’s feed.

  2. This is an interesting change but sad to see less views from you…now to finding another good source.

Btw, Iraniantruth,Scaniranic,Broodingpersian…many of these blogs have shut down slowly…it’s unfortunate that some of the most popular ones are doing so.

  3. Having a degree in political science in no way makes a man more competent in spreading awareness, it merely makes him competent in abstract concepts and short, empty slogans.

Kaman, you’re doing great so far, and you taught me a great deal. Don’t stay too far away, man. ;-)

  4. Kaman: It’s too early to retire. Take a break and come back. That’s what I’m going to do as well. I’ll be in Europe for the next 4 months and will not do much blogging, however, I do plane to come back. Even 3 posts a week will do and will not require so much of our attention and our eventual divorce…LOL

  5. Take a break for a while. You are needed.
But first, can you comment on these pictures at my blog?
    http://paleo.wordpress.com/2007/10/06/preparing-for-war/
They seem to be taken in a city with a population of 1.6 million. How or why did the entire city show up? Coercion, or threats, or is this really the way the majority of Iranians feel?

  6. I’ll miss the frequent updates … but as a student, i can relate

    best wishes
    From Tehran with Love!

P.S: you are not going to abandon us totally in the near future, are you? i’m saving up on the tantrum energy, just in case we might need “persuasive strategies” to get you back!
    ;)

  7. We all need breaks now and then. Our duties in life sometimes require more of attention and we must attend to those things.

It is hard, very hard, to continue pointing out the obvious things the main stream media ignores. Such outlets like your wonderful blog are important because the main stream media chooses what they wish the world to know, and there is so much more to know.

  8. Just what she said. :)

But enjoy your time with your wife, that’s most important and we’re second!

  9. We will miss your posts, Kamangir. But the family is the most important thing. But, as Serendip has told you, if you can, just write something if not often, at least occasionally…

  10. I have enjoyed your postings. As your hamvatan, I am really proud of you b/c you care for Iran and have tried to get word out about the what is really going on inside Iran. Take care and movafagh baashid.

  11. Wow!Wow! Wow! This is really good news. So you’ve decided to dig deep down. Yes! You did. I’m so glad. A person like you with such a frame of mind and such enthusiasm is cappable of doing much bigger jobs. Relating the bad happenings is what all people do! You can teach us WHY these happen. And how can you do this? When you have some time to enjoy life to see the other side of it(being with Azadeh shows that part to you; our families are real belessings.); when you have time to think and do research. I’m soooooo happy! You are successfully ending that ‘angry young man’ phase. Now you are becoming what your name denotes: Arash Kamangir. You do not waste your precious arrows on any petty target, now! I’m sure you’ll be here every now and then with some fresh water from that deep well you are digging. Best wishes and take care.

  13. Hey, I do hope you don’t disappear altogether! But I understand – it is nice that you’re clear about your priorities and pursuing them.

I’m already subscribed to your feed and will hope to see you posting sometimes at least…all the best for everything.

  15. As I have said before your social status and career success is important but I think you can still do both. What you said about people with degree in politics are better at raising awareness is probably the second nonsense you have ever written on your blog. Do you think I have a degree in politics? :))

    Comment by Azarmehr — October 8, 2007 @ 3:41 pm

  16. You will be missed on daily bases :-)
You are just having bloger’s burnout :-(
You did a lot of good work with this blog and helped bring awareness to American blogsphere regarding daily human rights abuses that goes on in Iran.
It’s a great thing to take a break. That’s how I ended up with my blog and I stopped my political blog. So, it’s a good thing to stop and focus a litlle within. As Charles Haanel’s once said 80 years ago:

“A majority of mankind lives in the world without few have found the world within, and yet it is the world within that makes the world without; it is therefore creative and everything which you find in your world without has been created by you in the word within…”

See enjoy the days with yourself and your family.

  18. You know I checked your blog several times these days although my feed reader said non but it seems we got addicted to your blog too.
I should confess now that I liked your English blog more than Persian, I guess if your blog just does the translation of news from Iran which can’t come out from the main stream media, would be an awesome job,and may be less work than anlayzing and scattering the effort with so many other stuff.
Although I always envy the people who can analyze events deep down with great knowledge , I admire the people which give the information and trust their readers judgments, and I guess your English blog is good at latter.
Sorry my comment sounds so much an eulogy , good luck with whatever you do.

  20. Kamangir!!! Thank you so much for having enlightened us about the atrocities which daily occur in Iran. I know many have said it already, but if you could try to post, even just on occasion, the world would be better for it. Your analysis of Iran has been far more valuable than much of what has been produced by the pundits and political scientists; you should not let your career path deter you from writing. Of course, the importance of family does supersede your blogging efforts, enjoy the time with your wife! Greetings from DC.

  23. Arash,

It has been a distinct pleasure reading and participating in your blog over the past two years. My best wishes for successful studies and sustaining time spent with your wife, friends, and other family. Give a shout if you’re ever travelling in the US.

    Best,
