Child offender Makwan Moloudzadeh, an Iranian Kurd, is believed to be at risk of imminent execution. He has reportedly been convicted of anal sex for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old boy. Makwan Moloudzadeh was aged 13 at the time of the alleged offence. His death sentence has been passed to the Office for the Implementation of Sentences and he is due to be executed in public, near his home.
…The witnesses and the two people who had pressed charges against him withdrew their claims after the trial. Under Iranian law, children (boys of up to 14.7 years) are to be flogged for homosexual acts.
… However, the judge relied on the “knowledge of the judge” to determine that penetration had taken place and that Makwan Moloudzadeh could be sentenced to death.
… During his trial, Makwan Moloudzadeh reportedly maintained his innocence. … He is reported to have gone on hunger strike for 10 days to
protest against his ill-treatment in detention. Prior to his trial and conviction, on or around 7 October 2006 Makwan Moloudzadeh was reportedly paraded through the streets of Paveh riding on a donkey, with his head shaved. As of the “knowledge of the judge”, Jafar Kiani was indeed stoned in that basis (see:Stoning WAS CARRIED OUT in Iran)
These are disgusting people who rule by using fear and threats all in the name of God.

Dear Arash,
I hate any kind of execution for any reason but I wished you had chosen a more proper title for this post. Raping is not called sexual/homosexual act. It is called sexual harassment. Isn’t it?

Rape is not called harassment. It is a crime. However the sentence should be equal to the crime. One should not give a free ride to grown-up men committing the rape, and blame it on the women. One should also not kill a minor, even if he/she committed a crime which would otherwise got him/her a death sentence. Not that I believe that a rape (apart from the most violent ones)deserve a death sentence – long stretch in jail, yes, but not a death.
Finally, children learn from their parents and grown-ups. The crime committed by child is often reflection of the child’s familly and the society she/he lives in. So the blame should be apportioned squarely, and the familly and society should is also to be blamed.
One more thing, the witnesses retracted their statements, so we don’t know if the child committed a rape or not. Therefore in the absence of all the facts one can call it a homosexual act, and not a crime.

I don’t think there is any evidence of rape here at all. There isn’t even evidence of anal penetration. But even if there were evidence of penetration we are talking about two 13 year old boys. This is a fairly ordinary thing for boys to do, it doesn’t mean anything more than two pubescent teenagers are exploring sex. How you can leap from there to rape would take the twisted mind of the fundamentally religious. If anyone needs to be brought before a judge here it is the judge in this case who has thrown out all aspects of a reasonable and fair trial in order to engage in grandstanding and pandering to the mob.
