Good Reads: Iranian Lady Drives a Bus
Kamangir | November 1, 2007 | Category Good Reads
I do recommend watching this short documentary about a lady driver in Iran.
Not a coincidence at all, as JSinger also pointed out, that Haartez carried a similar report today about Nabila, the first Muslim female to drive a bus in Israel. Actually, the Iranian-Israeli blogger Kamran [Persian] posted a link to the Iranian video on his Persian blog, exactly because he had heard about Nabila’s story. Watch Nabila’s story here. Does anyone know if her video is available anywhere in an embeddable format?

Coincidentally, in Haaretz today…
Kamangir: Not a coincidence at all! I updated the post with more information.
Hossein Derakhshan has put up a post about Mehdi Khalaji’s who has filed a libel and defamation lawsuit against him.
http://hoder.com/weblog/archives/016557.shtml
I left him this message for him a few days ago, but as I expected he’s not posted it. But as you are one of the people who he has libelled. I want to post it here. So I hope you forgive me as it’s not related to your post, but I just have to say it as somewhere as I’m not a blogger This is my Message to Derakhshan (http://hoder.com/weblog ) at the news he is being sued :
This is pure and utter poetic justice. I don’t like Khalaji and everything he is associated with. But I’m glad he’s put you under pressure. For this is justice for all the people inside Iran who you have libelled, slandered and bullied and who you kicked when they were down and in their lowest points and under pressure from the cruelty that the regime practices. You’ve showed no mercy even when they were in Evin prison. But they are helpless against your accusations inside Iran. But Khalaji isn’t so powerless. So let’s just hope that there is a God and you get done to you what you’ve put others through.

Translation: I am a woman and I just wanted to punch the monitor when that silly man talked to her like that. Poor Iranian ladies who have to suffer this much.
