The Persian blogger Jadi writes about the recent crackdown on Iranian hosting services for shutting down “inappropriate” websites [Persian]. Reportedly, Zanestan, a feminist website, and saghar, a Bahai’i’s blog, have been the first victims.
Jadi writes, “This seems to be the second round of filtering. The administration is disappointed with their unsuccessful attempts to filter websites and thus have focused on hosts. This is a very weak strategy because websites can very easily move to hosts located outside Iran and counteract this attempt.”
“The main problem is that they cannot accept that there are people who think differently than them”, writes Jadi. He continues “Through this illegal crackdown they try to avoid pluralism”. According to Jadi both websites now show an error message.
