Plane catches Fire in Mehrabad Airport, A Blogger reports from the Scene

Filed under: Iran — Kamangir @ 11:44 am

yk9xcq9pkwzmlmwgrrny.jpgThe Persian blogger Shekkar [Persian] (means Sugar in Persian) has been on board the Iran Air Fokker 100 which attempted to take off for Shiraz but ended up losing its landing gear and caught fire [Persian].

Shekkar writes,

Today 7:26am, local time, because of ice on the ground and the frozen control equipment, the plane lost its course and headed a false direction. Then, the landing gear was damaged and the plane hit the ground and caught fire. Fortunately, all the passengers were evacuated immediately and the fire was controlled. Though, the plane will not be able to fly anymore.

The blogger has also managed to take a few pictures of the burnt-out plane and, thanks to the WiFi in the airport, he has published the first pictures of the accident, even before the official news sources.

Thanks for the information and we are all glad the fire department in the airport knew their job so well

All the pictures are from Shekkar [Persian].
