Connection Graph of the Persian Blogosphere
By Kamangir • Feb 22nd, 2008 • Category: Blogging, Didish, Features, Lead StoryOn February 16th, I published a report on the statistics of the Persian blogosphere (see: Statistics of the 100 Hottest Persian Blogs/Websites). That report, as well as this one, are all results of project “Didish?”. In this report, not only we’ll take a look at the hottest Persian sources on the web, but also the connection graph of the Persian blogosphere will be presented. It is worth to mention that all these results are preliminary and I am still debugging the code. If you have interest in this information or want to use it in your research, please send me a hint at arash@kamangir.net.
This report contains over 32,000 links collected from 178 sources. These links refer to over 5,000 websites. The complete report can be found here, a list of all the reports can be found here.

The major difference between this report and what was observed previously is the climb of the Amsterdam-based Persian Radio Zamaneh past BBC Persian. Also, it seems that blogs on wordpress.com are in fact closing on the senior blogspot.com (compare today with two days ago).
This is the list of the ten most-linked Persian sources on the web, according to links shared by Persian bloggers:
- radiozamaaneh.com: (visit).
- bbc.co.uk: (visit).
- 1pezeshk.com: (visit).
- persian.kamangir.net: (visit).
- dw-world.de: (visit).
- updateblog.net: (visit).
- nikahang.blogspot.com: (visit).
- 1fathi.wordpress.com: (visit).
- mhmazidi2.wordpress.com: (visit).
- freekeyboard.net: (visit).
Furthermore, the orders in terms of number of sources can be found here and a 2D representation is given here.
In this report, on top of all the other graphs and lists, a new graph is presented. Considering the topmost 100 sources, the ones which also shared links were selected. As such, the list of 25 blogs as shown below was generated:
- 1pezeshk.com: (visit).
- persian.kamangir.net: (visit).
- updateblog.net: (visit).
- 1fathi.wordpress.com: (visit).
- mhmazidi2.wordpress.com: (visit).
- bamdadi.com: (visit).
- 9blog.wordpress.com: (visit).
- vahidonline.com: (visit).
- shakh.wordpress.com: (visit).
- keshvary.wordpress.com: (visit).
- robo.wordpress.com: (visit).
- rah-e-man.com: (visit).
- yasnababa.blogspot.com: (visit).
- moniri.com: (visit).
- naazliii.blogspot.com: (visit).
- tramdaily.wordpress.com: (visit).
- maryaminaa.blogspot.com: (visit).
- cybertux.wordpress.com: (visit).
- radikal2.blogspot.com: (visit).
- zebelkhan.wordpress.com: (visit).
- durtarha.blogspot.com: (visit).
- hajiwashington.com: (visit).
- mer30.wordpress.com: (visit).
- microdump.blogspot.com: (visit).
- baghbanbashi.blogspot.com: (visit).
Now, based on the number of links from each site in the list to all the members of the list, a graph was generated. Here, the color of the edges of the graph is based on this color-code (white means no link, black means all the links of this source have been to the regarding blog).

The complete graph is very big in size. If you use Firefox, then you can go through this SVG file (100 KB). IE users can use this heavier PNG file (1.5 MB). This is a snapshot of a tiny portion of the graph.

You do have a balanced and informative site, written with humour and compassion. It’s good to see that many people read it.
Kamangir: Thanks. :)
Kamangir rocks :)
Hi Arash :) Your site is the best :)
Kamangir: Thanks Elinor. :)
IE users can watch SVG files too, but IE needs help doing it.
All other browsers (not just Firefox) don’t need help, but have SVG capability built in.
In both cases see http://wiki.svg.org/Viewer_Matrix
For more on SVG see http://svg.startpagina.nl
Kamangir: Thanks for the help.
