Chris De Burgh: the Persian Connection
By Kamangir • May 26th, 2008 • Category: Iran, Video of the DayChris De Burgh, who happens to be one my most favorites, recently went to Tehran to do a joint song with the Iranian group Arian. In his website, the work is described as,
This is an exciting project as it is the first collaboration between Western and Iranian artists.
It also so happens that Arian was for a long time a favorite band for Azadeh and I. So, enough with all this, this is what they did together. Lovely, isn’t it?

Are they performing this in Tehran or some where else? How could Chris de Berg get the permission from Iranian government? I thought they are a bunch of crazy Mullahs!!!
Kamangir:That was a good one!
Of course they are bunch of crazy mullahs, but even a bunch of crazy mullahs needs propaganda. They would say: look we are not crazy, after all de Burgh can play with our musicians. ;-)
In the meantime everybody who likes good music benefits.
Nice song, ‘The Words I Love You’. Wonder if there will be an album made with Arian, as well? Hmm, worth looking into.
I notice the men and women in the video are separated by 2 or 3 feet; that also keeps crazy mullahs calm.
Kamangir: Absolutely! :)
The word is not crazy, you mean “fanatic” or “backward” - there was only one crazy Mullah and his name was Khalkhali and he rotted to death eventually.
If they’re to be considered crazy, having ruled Iran for 30 odd years, what should be said about the people who allowed a bunch of crazy people ruling them for all those years?!!
I suggest you to publish a petition against any war on Iran in your next post.
This way you will be less ashamed of yourself during the next 6 months. I am serious. Do it before it is too late.
Hey mani, the war would be against islam. Not Iran. If the US has to do something about Iran, they will do precision targeting against the rulers, the mullahs and ayatollahs, the ‘ama-dinner jackets’ of Iran and the other a-hole leaders.. The good people of Iran need not fear. Most of America is watching you, and appreciating you. I personally pray for you.
Oh, great tune. Great melody. Great voices. Male, and female. :)
El greco,
Who ensures if the war happened civilians would be safe. We already see what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan, don’t be so (I don’t want to use that word) simplistic.
Even though I don’t believe there will be any U.S or Israeli military strike against Iran any time in near future but rest assured key mullahs will be well bunkered down long before the first sound of explosion. Most of the nuclear related infrastructure are all deep under ground well beyond bunker buster bombs effective range (they say it is 50 meter deep but who knows? no one expect them to publish such a sensitive info.) so if there is going to be a war it will all be innocent civilians and economic infrastructures.
BTW: IMHO the greatest mistake of majority of Iranians (including myself) was under estimating mullahs, they presumed mullahs are crazy, may be that is why thugs in power could last for so long and systematically consolidate absolute power and eliminate all opposition brutally or peacefully, what ever suit them. Kind of smart, ha?
“less ashamed of yourself”
Ha. Nice. Ya hear that Archer? “Less”
Didn’t De Burgh perform a concert for the MeK and praise Maryam Rajavi?
Beautiful! Thanks.
It was fantastic
That was fabulous. Thank you for sharing it.
