How about a video covering Iran’s overt war against the US in Iraq? If you’d like I have some still photos of Iranian produced mortars Coalition Forces recently recovered we can use for the film cover. How about the Iraqi politicians owned by the Islamic Republic like Hadi al-Amiri?
Kamangir: Matthew, you know where I stand. This is a war and people, like these kurds, are caught in between. Having an expansive knowledge about the issue is vital, to my understanding, in making good judgements.
Matthew,
How about the nuclear bomb that US has tested in 1991 in Basara in Iraq. You expect Iranians jsut sit and wait to be their next victims?
How do you feel if russians invade Mexico and Canada? Would you jsut sit there and watch?
Mani,
If Mexico and Canada were run, respectively, by the Taliban and Saddam Hussein and his Ba’ath party, I would sit back and appreciate the huge favor just done for my country. If Ayatollahs tried to take over my country, state, city or county government, I’d kill them and their supporters.
A good article for you all

The movie is quite nice, however I wonder why the title is "america secret war"?
There are three statements in the movie to support this title:
1) the opinion of one former CIA agent
2) the opinion of some Iran officials
3) the opinion cited by the movie maker: "some people think that US helps…"
you know, if I said "Archer is an agent of influence of the government of Iran" it would have the same validity as the title of that movie because
1) you left Iran without any problem (hint, if you were not you would have more trouble)
2) you have a family in Iran (hint: they may be close to the government)
3) some of your statements seem similar to opinion of some people in IRI government
4) some people may think that you are an agent
See, one can twist everything if one wants to do that.
Kamangir: Come on Ella! Is it anything but obvious that the US and Iran are indeed at war with each other? Take the sanctions and the proxy war as examples. The video makes it clear how people are caught in between and I posted it for that very reason.
Archer
I don’t see how can you say that kurds are caught in between. Kurds wanted their own country/state for a long time now, in fact they have been promised their own state but the european powers reneged on their promise. European powers thought that other countries, including Iran are more important than independent Kurdish state. The PJAK and PKK people are not caught in between, they now have better chance of having their own dream come true then ever before. If you watched that movie carefully you could have seen that Kurds wanted US to attack Iran. If you have ever read Kurdish blog from Iran (unfortunately that blog dissapeared) that Kurd said he wanted to be independent from Iran and he wasn’t the only one. You, yourself, should know that less money goes from Tehran government to Kurdish-Iranian provinces than to other Iranian (proper)provinces. You also should have noticed that recently many Kurdish journalists have been put into prison and some got hanged.
Kurds knowingly fight Turkey, they knowingly fought Saddam and some of them knowingly attack Iranian military. You may even say they use current international situation to further their goals. So it is strange that you say that they are caught in between, as if they have to choose whom to support.
As for proxy war – well, yes. It seems that Iran even have some Al-Qaeda people staying in your country to use when necessessary ;-)
One more thing, Archer, you are saying that the sanctions are in reality a proxy war of the West (USA) against Iran.
I think about it differently.
Iranian government lies.
For the last few decades it was saying that it did not help any terrorists organisations. That it was western, arrogant powers’ lie. That US officials telling world about weapons and money going to Hizbullah, to Hamas, to Palestinian Islamic Jihad was a crusader’s lie, a Bush lie, an evil empire lie.
Now what?
Your government is saying that it was not a lie. That your government, your Rafsanjani, your Khatami, your Ahmadinejad helped with money and weapons terrorist organisations, year after year, starting at 1979.
And the same is with your government nuclear programme. Your government bought secretly plans from Mr. Khan of Pakistan. Your government lied that it did not have any fuel enrichment and conversion in Natanz and Arak. It was saying no, we have only civilian program. After documents were smuggled to IAEA it was saying that it was lie, then that must be some mistake and then, after months it said “yes it is true” The same goes now, it is saying all the time one thing but it is doing other thing. The problem is that your government is pathological liar, it will lie until one will get 100% documentation up to and including the photos of secret facilities. And to get such documentation is extremely difficult. Of course you may say that IAEA is checking everything – yes, but only the sites it knows of, it can not check sites it does not have documentation of or clear documentation that it pertains to its work.
So don’t say: “sanctions are war against Iran”, say: “sanctions, weak as they are, are the only way short of war to get your government to come clear, to stop your government from being a chronic liar.”.
and something for your info: http://www.newsweek.com/id/146950/page/1
I wonder how often there are military engagements? How often are there deaths? How many civilian casualties?
I guess this is not as popular to the international press as the other conflicts.
Robby,
There are air raid bombings on Iraqi Kurdistan at least once a month from either the Turkish side of the fence or the Iranian. If you read Arabic or Farsi I can send you the weblinks. There are deaths in both the bombings and the cross-boarder raids, some of the civilian. Since Iraqi Kurdistan is technically not a state and therefore its militia is not legally a national army, all casualties on the Kurdish side are legally civilian casualties. Now if you count Peshmerga as regular military forces that’s a different story. Technically, Qods Force and Badr Brigades and Hezbollah are civilians as well but that’s only legal horseshit for anyone who has seen them operate–go youtube up some videos.
Its kind of ironic that the minute someone dies in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Gaza or any of the other hotbeds we hear about it the minute it happens. Just about every news source has counts of civilians, soldiers, terrorist, etc.
Sorry Matthew, my Farsi is VERY limited, I would have little chance of understanding. Maybe you guys can help keep us posted.
Ella, you’re on to something!
Arecher, howcome your family is not harrassed by the IRI?
Damn PJAK, I hope revolutionary guards kill all of them, one by one.
